Popped a rib out of place (upper back)

Has anybody ever experienced this? My doctor said they may do a MRI (Which i wanted since i 1st went to the doctor, but he refused), then give me a shot if need be.

    Is inversion table therapy helpful for back pain faster than medicine?

    Alright, here is an update, i started physical therapy today, she had me do some streching for my bicep tendon by leaning into a wall stretching my chest and front of my shoulders etc, i actually feel alot better, i was told to go head and lift, just do it lightly, do the stretches she showed me 3 times a day, daily, i'm kind of excited to be able to workout my back, shoulders, and chest again, she said wait to do shoulders on Friday, let my body get accustomed to the stretching etc.

    Thanks for the heads up dnap, i appreciate it, i can see what you mean with the labral tear, the chiropractor took a x-ray and said i popped a rib out of place, i could have also done something to my neck that he didn't mention? i'm not really sure. I don't believe my Chiro is all that familiar with bodybuilding related injuries.

    Just on the surface of things, I would tend to disagree with the rib dx (diagnosis), based on a number of things. Also any peer review based research would suggest that manipulations should work in 2-3 visits, not 2.5 months. My guess is you had the labral tear or a neck injury, which one shoulf expect from the mechanism of injury. Dont get me wrong, I have been trained in manip's and in my state we can do them as a PT. Just be careful who you go to, b/c I often find in my our profession many of us don't know much about gym/bodybuilding which really doesnt relate well to your problem. Just ask them a little meathead trivia?? Like how many 45's can you put on one side of the barbell before it flips over.. :-) Best of luck. Having a labral tear myself it really sux working around it in the gym.

    Thanks for the input, i asked my Chiropractor if he could do anything for my shoulder, he said no, just rest, pretty much. I agree with you, i'm not too fond of medications, even Ibuprofen. I may take them once a month if something is really bothering me, but if i can get this problem fixed i shouldn't be on anything.

    Had the same problem with rib popping out and in almost the same places you show.
    It's an undescribeable pain! Dr.could't fix me so a friend suggested chiropractic.
    DUDE! The first couple of times he made me feel almost worse and he did "dry needling"
    on the muscles aswell.
    Now I trust only chiropractic and try to stay away from pain medication as far as possible!
    Tough it out man! Chiropractic works.

    Went to my Doctor today, he stated it is the shoulder labrum. He told me to continue resting, he's unsure if i tore it or just pulled it really good. I start physical therapy as soon as i'm off of the wait list. He recommended for me to buy the body blade and take the ibuprofen, anybody ever torn or damaged their labrum. How long did it take to heal etc?

    Your chiro ever put you on a inversion table? Those things work wonders for my rib that pops out from time to time. Does a great job of relaxing all the surrounding muscles as well.

    Figure i'd do a follow up, I think i went to the Chiropractor for about 2.5 months or so, he just adjusted me and used a tool similiar to a hammer around the area of my trap where i popped the rib out of place. After every couple visits he'd have me lay on a bed that was like a massager with heat, glad to say that i'm done with the Chiropractor and am now going to give me Doctor a call to have him look into physical therapy for the front of my left shoulder, then after some therapy, hopefully, i'll be back in the gym. Six months is a long time! it is starting to drive me crazy.

    Thanks alot, that sucks, i couldn't imagine tearing a pec! that'd be horrible. The massages are really helping.

    Yeah I am about 7 months down the tubes since I tore my pec muscle and I would definitely keep with what your doing and see a specialist and come back when you know everything is feeling right again.
