  • I always start with the bar on the floor, but I do this with every pulling movement like Pendlay Rows, RDL's, Old school Hacks w/ cambered bar, etc.

For conventional pulls I start from the floor and I touch and go with each rep. I don't try to bounce it though.

I have always felt that if you have to bounce between each rep you are losing some of the power transfer to your muscles, therefore reducing the benefit you'll gain from the movement.

      • ^ That's basically why I personally feel the reset method works best. If you grabbed the bar off a rack and started the lift from a standing position it would be another story. But that's just how I feel about it. On paper it just makes sense.

              • So I just entered a push/pull meet on Feb 24th.

Will use it as a gauge for my April meet, but hoping to pull 195kg/429lb. That will be my second lift, depending on how it goes up I might have a crack at 200kg.

                • If meets where up to me I would want more time off between meets. I would like to have 3-4 months or more, often I have to do them but don't like meets back to back(2month or less)

Why is that? Just so you can get a good block of training in and make some significant improvements? I'm just curious.

I personally like a block of around 11wks to get ready for a meet, assuming I am going into the start of the training with an already solid strength base. 10 wks hard training and then an easy week to lead me into it.

                    • If it where up to me I would only do 2comp a year! 6 months apart... Cuz I don't like goin hard for more then 8wks. I get burnt out really easy. Everytime a meet is comin, about 2-3wks out I'm already over it and just want it to be over with.
