The Sheru Classic Asian Grand Prix Brings Bodybuilding to India

In 2010, with the blessing of Mr. Jim Manion, Chairman of the IFBB Pro League and President of the National Physique Committee of the USA, the Sheru Classic was granted approval to hold the first ever IFBB Professional Bodybuilding and Figure show in Asia. This is a major achievement for India and will put the country on the international bodybuilding map.

The Sheru Classic is not only to be the first professional show in all of Asia, it will be the third highest cash award show in the world after Mr. Olympia and the Arnold Sports Festival with a prize purse of $150,000. In addition the top three winners will automatically qualify for the Mr. Olympia and Figure Olympia 2012. This along with the opportunity to introduce bodybuilding to a huge and growing global audience has attracted the top athletes from the professional bodybuilding and figure circuits to the inaugural event this September.

Since 2009, the Aangrish Brothers (Sheru & Hemant) have worked to establish a professional bodybuilding event in India when they started the amateur Sheru Classic in their hometown of Ludhiana (India). Along the way, they have faced a number of challenges, but with the constant support of Jim Manion, IFBB Pro league and top Olympia competitors the Sheru Classic is set to create history in 2011.
