Obviously you guys don't know what the fuck you are talking about. In mma there are a lot more techniques to deal with than wrestling. You actually think a boxer would be able to deal with a guy like Anderson silva, Edson barboza, Mauricio rua that's shogun to all you casuals out there, Gsp or anyone else even close to the level of the aforementioned men you are on fucking drugs. Even if a boxer could learn the elite level of takedown defense required to stuff a Gsp or koschek takedown which I guarantee they never would be able to there is still a lot a plethora of techniques to deal with. For instance Muaythai Thai cut kicks which is a leg kick. One leg kick from someone like barboza or Alves is all it would take to take all the power out of even the most powerful boxer's hands. Not to mention his leg would probably be close to broken. Then you have the head kick, when you have a guy who realy knows how to turn his hips over in to his kicks, even if the boxer blocks the kick he's going to block in the typical boxer fashion and his arm is going to be broke. And there is more ways to take a guy down then just a single or double leg shot, there's all kinds of sweeps and throws. Don't get me wrong I love boxing, however there is a reason that most boxers will even admit that they can't be compared to the best in mma and that is because they can't. Also Chuck never had the best striking in mma he just had a sick amout of power. Also check out a show called sports science where they measure all sorts of athletic ability. And yes they have had some of the best boxers ever on this show and guess who has had the most powerful punch ever recorded. Hint he was the former hw champ that lost to the current champ, none other than Cain velasquez. Bas rutten was hitting harder than 90 percent of the hws and he's a good 40 pounds lighter. Mixed martial arts is far superior in every way, shape and form. Lastly Vitor Belfort is 4-0 in pro boxing and all of his training has been in mma and bjj.
Yeah it pretty much is the same mma title fight 5 five min rds = 25 mins, boxing 10 three min rds = 30 mins not much difference save for the fact that in mma you will definetly have been kicked, kneed, elbowed, taken down and had to fight your way back up with another man's weight on you, maybe choked, armbarred, kimurad, gogoplataed, omaplataed, guillotined, darced, etc all the while being punched. There is a reason that athletes from every sport are trying to incorporate some form of mixed martial arts training into their systems. Just for clarification they don't use any boxers training.
To the guy who said mma fighters don't have heart are you kidding. Check out a fight between Dan Henderson and Muaricio shogun Rua or the fight that put UFC into the mainstream between Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar or Gsp fighting for three fucking rounds with a badly pulled groin. Name a boxer that has ever done anything remotely as inspiring as these examples. Just stick with being into boxing because mma doesn't need pretenders like you.
