As a lifetime natty I say there is never a time to use steroids. Steroids are for quitters.

It's guys who go overboard with mega doses, don't take enough time off, don't get regular check-ups and blood work, and those with pre-existing conditions who have the majority of health issues.

Your decision is fine, and you can have any opinion you want to.

But stop saying that using steroids in competitive bb in organizations where there is no testing is 'cheating.' Cheating in a sport implies that you are breaking a rule.
Im talking about regular guys, with no intention to compete. And the person they cheat are themselves.

For me personally, no to both. But the cool thing is that people get to make their own choices.

If you want to be healthy-ish, have muscle and be in general good shape, stay drug free.

If your goal is to maximize muscular gains beyond your "natural" limits and cross over to a freaky un-natural build hop on the gear.

When should you do this? Whenever you want to I guess....

Better to build a sound natural base and knowledge of training first IMO, and definitely nothing under 21 IMO as you are a natural hormone factory already and WILL grow.

So basically at least 2-3 years of serious training and after 21 years old.

    Just my opinion...

I won a national championship U23 (in my country)and another time I took second place but I came in a heavier class. Well bodybuilding is not that competitive here, but my point is, gear did make a difference.

After really busting your ass for a while and eating many tasteless meals and seeing other guys doing less and making better gains you will come to the conclusion that you better get with the program.

That's strange, he just got unbanned. If he got banned again that would suck. This is not a good sign, NB will be horrible without him... seriously.

I thought in the IFBB rules it states that you are not allowed to use performance enhancements. That means that people who aren't following that rule are cheating. Just because everybody is breaking the rule that doesn't mean that it's not cheating, that simply means that the organization is filled with a bunch of cheaters. If you break a rule in a competition, it's cheating. People can justify it to themselves by saying "everybody else is doing it" (which in bodybuilding is definitely true), but the bottom line is that everybody breaking that rule is a cheater. Again, I'm not certain of the IFBB rules, but that's how it goes.

Same applies to actual professional sporting organizations such as the NFL, MLB, etc. If their rulebooks state that you cannot use PED's and you decide to use them anyway because you think "everybody else is doing them", then you are knowingly cheating.

If the rule was meant to be taken seriously, there would be random testing all year. The standard was set well over 40 years ago that a certain look was the winning look, and gear is part of that.

If you don't like it, there is always natural pro bb. But the guys are not freaks - many get shredded and some are fairly impressive - but nothing compared to what we see in the top IFBB shows. Personally, I prefer to watch the IFBB shows.

Man, I cant remember the last time I logged in on this sites forums, but this is a good topic and I would like to put in my 2 cents! I just competed a little under 2 months ago in my first competition. It was NPC Contra Costa I placed 4th in the Novice Middleweights. I did the show natural and of course 1st and 2nd place went to guys who were on gear (nice guys, we actually became friends during the show). I knew I was competing at a disadvantage but I didn't care for 2 reasons. 1.) I love bodybuilding and I was so excited to get up on stage, I just wanted to compete to say I had done so. 2.) I knew that eventually I was gonna be on gear, but I wasn't ready I still had a lot of growing naturally to do. I think its a personal decision and when its the right time you will know. There wont be any question. I'm currently getting ready for my first cycle, I'm 24 and I've been training and dieting consistently for about 2 years, its time!
