Default So will the title be changed to 212 Mr. Olympia or remain 212 showdown ?

    I just wanted to know....

It seems so meager to keep it 212 showdown

It sounds like a gunfight or wrestling event

The 212 Mr. Olympia sounds sooo much better

And an overall pose down with the open winner to decide the overall Mr. Olympia

    Like Franco and Arnold did.....

as it should be, don't you think ?

I wonder what the reasoning is behind calling it the "212 showdown" as opposed to the 212 Mr O.
As for the overall posedown...if it aint broke dont fix it..

Sadly enough, the "Olympia 212 Showdown" remains the Active Title for this event.

I think it's a joke and should have the Mr. Olympia title added to it.

If they call the MPD thing 'The Men's Physique Mr. Olympia' next year (yes, it is going to be in the O in 2013) and still don't call the 212 show Olympia, we should all boycott!

Nope, Dorian Yates(6X Mr. Olympia) says that the title is only good enough for one man. He says if a short guy is really good enough, he should battle in the open class.

I think it should be the 212 Olympia, but I don't think the overall winners should posedown. The 212 winner would struggle to make top ten in the open, why compare him to the Mr. O? If the top 212 guys want to get compared to phil, kai, wolf, branch, evan, etc., they should qualify and compete in the open.

What if the best of the 212 competed in the open though? Didn't Flex Lewis beat A LOT of people (including Hidetada) at last years Euro Arnold/ Mr Europe shows? I'm sure a few of them could make the top 10, and its not like a top 3 placing in the 212 Olympia gets you any more money than 7th-10th in the open (though I don't know the figures off the top of my head).

that was on my mind too...at 225 Lewis could be a top 6 guy if he comes in super shredded like he did at the 2011 BGP...maybe if he wins the 212 this year next year he goes to the open who knows...Sami would do some dammage in the open too but others should stay in the 212...

I had to change my thinking and make MPD a "non event" in my mind when I attend a show.
    I'm serious about this.
I stopped thinking much about any "official " policy of the IFBB or NPC.
I like bodybuilding and enjoy things when I only focus on the bodybuilding.
They can have a dancing llama division at the Olympia if they want LOL

There is only ONE Mr. Olympia....not a different class Mr. O. Thus the "official" title being what it is

That said....everyone, including myself, calls the winner the 212 Olympia champion, etc....does it really matter?

what is the difference in your opinion then between open pro and weight class amateur contests ?.....if that's the case why do we even have classes in the lower ranks(the amateurs) if they don't get a chance in the upper ranks of bodybuilding (the pro's) to have a shot at the title ?.....The lower weight men should be able to challenge the heavier winner to a pose down....they usually don't win but it's not about the win it's about respect and a fair shake...David Henry or Flex Lewis aren't midgets.....they are professional bodybuilders that deserve to be in a posedown....Sometimes the bigger man doesn't win and we trivialize and disrespect them buy saying it's a showdown and no overall pose down ?.....so disrespectful

I bet if you asked Mike Mentzer or Franco Columbo or Robby Robinson if it matters they would say yes
