    I hate doing deads for more than 1-5 reps, always hurt my back.

    Obviously I don't do singles every set....but most times I deadlift I will do something similar to (weights vary)

    High rep deads and squats are the most painful and cardio taxing exercises around.

    Agreed. Squats a bit less so as the body is more stable throughout the movement.

    I do the same.. It just looked like every set he was doing was only one rep or half of a deadlift/bent over row...
