Default Next MD Cover: 2013 Arnold Classic Preview!

Arnold And MD Make A Great Team!

Muscular Development is honored to be the premier bodybuilding magazine and website. We’re number one and proud of it, and grateful for the support of our readers and the industry. Over the years, MD has assembled a stellar team of writers, editors, top athletes, gurus and legends in the sport to make MD number one. Our lineup of creative talent and industry experts and insiders is unrivaled, bringing to life our passion for the sport and art of bodybuilding to deliver a product that’s second to none!

Arnold is a name that speaks for itself – he’s the King of Bodybuilding and his name brings to mind a magnificence that is larger than life. The bodybuilding contest that bears his name, the Arnold Classic, is one of the most prestigious and respected shows in the industry. MD shares Arnold’s dedication to bodybuilding, his vision and drive to be the best – which is why Arnold and MD make a great team. Upholding Arnold’s high standards, MD is proud to give you the best coverage of the Arnold Classic anywhere, in print and online at musculardevelopment.com.

We’ve devoted this entire issue to the 25th edition of the Arnold Classic (on sale January 29th), the mega-event promoted by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jim Lorimer. Our coverage of the Arnold Classic gets better each year. MD is pleased to have brought you two world-exclusive interviews with Arnold during 2012, in which he discussed the globalization of the Arnold Classic. Thank you, Arnold, for taking the time to speak with MD.

How will this year’s Arnold Classic go down? Will three-time Arnold Classic champion Dexter Jackson tie Flex Wheeler’s record of four Arnold wins? Or could Toney Freeman, Johnnie Jackson, or Cedric McMillan bring it to Columbus and emerge the champion? In “The 2013 Arnold Classic Preview” Team MD’s Shawn Ray, Flex Wheeler, and Kevin Levrone size up this year’s competitors.

Dexter Jackson is the odds-on favorite to win this year’s Arnold Classic. At age 43, The Blade has never looked sharper. Dexter won the Masters Mr. Olympia last December, looking the best he had in his entire career: full, nasty dry and grainy. Can he tie the all-time record of four Arnold Classic titles? Check out our Dexter feature entitled “Dexter: Going for His Most Important Win Yet!” In an exclusive interview with Flex Wheeler, Dexter tells MD how he nailed his condition with the help of IFBB Pro Guru George Farah. Muscular Development recently signed Dexter to an exclusive contract, and we want to welcome Dexter back to Team MD.

The stage is set for Cedric McMillan to do serious damage in Columbus. Fans of shape and aesthetics who long for a return to the ideals of the classic look are rooting for Cedric to score his most prestigious win to date at this year’s Arnold Classic. After skipping last year’s Mr. Olympia to make improvements to his physique, Cedric’s vast potential we saw at the 2009 Nationals is coming to fruition and he won last year’s New York Pro. Check out our super feature in “Armed and Dangerous! Cedric McMillan Aims His Supersized Guns at an Arnold Classic Title.” Find out what Big Mac does to build those large-caliber weapons that could slay the competition at the Arnold. When it comes to traps, there have been some impressive sets going all the way back to Bertil Fox and Markus Ruhl, leading into today with MD’s Branch Warren and Dexter Jackson. But there’s one man whose traps are head and shoulders above the rest. In “Johnnie Jackson Sets His Traps,” learn how Johnnie built the best traps in bodybuilding. At 41, Johnnie is still making improvements and had a great season in 2012, with the third pro win of his career (IFBB FIBO Power, Germany) and three strong runner-up finishes. To say he’s excited about the Arnold would be an understatement.

Also, the “Arnold Era” diet, nutrition, fat loss, and anabolics. Plus in this issue is our special report: Arnold VS. Sergio. Bodybuilding’s fiercest rivalry featured two hugely contrasting characters, so check out “Fire & Ice” as MD senior editor Peter McGough tells the inside story of the titanic clashes between Arnold Schwarzenegger and the late, Sergio Oliva. Don’t miss it!

The rest of the book is packed to the binder as usual – with all the latest cutting-edge research and information on bodybuilding by the industry experts and insiders who make it all happen. See you at the Arnold!

Where in the world is Sergio's cover Steve? A Mr Olympia gave us so much and you can't even return the favor with a simple cover in a timely fashion?! It's like having a funeral 2 months after someone's death. At this point, why bother anymore.

Ummmm....Steve has to make the right decisions for the company to be profitable, it is not a sign of any disrespect to Sergio it is simply economics. A cover is pretty darn important in publishing and a lot of thought goes into maximizing marketability.

Bottom line, Arnold SELLS magazines! Plus it's the 25th anniversary of the Arnold Classic, seems rather apt I think...

Robert Kennedy told me once that whenever they'd put him on the cover and put special Arnold features in sales for that issue would skyrocket...
