Serious question - I know the only way to tell if you're vitamin D deficient is to get bloodwork done. But what is the likelihood that I, or anyone, is vitamin D deficient?

I understand that your body produces it from sunlight, so living in a sunny place helps. Does anyone have a decent estimator of D deficiency? Do bodybuilders "use" more vitamin D the same way we blast through other nutrients? Or is it a self-regulating vitamin since our bodies can produce it?

Can someone remove posts about soccer and ones that guys are cussing each other out. They don't belong here.
As for vitamin D - almost every bloodwork I did prior to supplementing with vit D showed vit D deficiency. Granted, I live in the city, don't go outside much and if I stay in the shade in the summer because it is too hot. Never had that problem before I moved to the city. I always supplemented my diet with some kind of multivitamin (sports or regular one) but that was never enough.

Pretty much everyone but the population that don't workout intensively and have enough sun exposure + have access to great food. So yeah Vitamin D is very important. Usually if you buy a solid brand of Vitamins and minerals (chelated etc with all the vitamins you're looking for) you will see the vitamin D in good proportion

I take 8,000 IU of D3 per day.

It makes my nails and hair grow really fast, so I assume it helps with muscle maintenance.

Black bodybuilders would just have to go out in the sun the get vitamin D. Because of their melanin. Their skin absorbs the stuff that helps to produce vitamin D3 at a faster rate and in a greater amount. In addition, their melanin protects them from the harmful rays of the sun. The sun helps them.
