Default Next MD Cover: Ben Pakulski

Bodybuilders have been getting bigger and more freakier for decades, but for some competitors, the extreme mass has come with a hefty price: a bloated midsection that distorts the idealsof a classic shape and small waist of an aesthetically pleasing physique. Arnold Schwarzenegger was critical of this trend at this year’s Arnold Classic, talking to task judges who reward physiques that he thought were shaped like “bottles.”

This month’s issue of Muscular Development goes into the belly of the beast and explores bodybuilding’s big gut dilemma, with exclusive reports from industry insiders. Our team of research scientists provides cutting-edge information to enable you to lose your gut and blast fat, and explores some of the reasons that bodybuilders do not always grow in direct proportion. In this month’s Fat Attack, for example, Dan Gwartney, M.D. looks at the role of insulin in creating the “bottle shaped bodies” that Arnold alluded to.

Justin Compton put on size for this year’s Arnold Classic, where he placed an impressive third at his Arnold debut. In “Goodbye Columbus, Hello 2016!” Justin reflects on his growth, and reveals why he won’t compete again until 2016 Arnold. As Justin said, “The experience motivated me to be even hungrier and to come back next year to win it.”

More muscle means greater fat loss, as muscle acts like a furnace to burn fat 24/7. Kicking up the intensity of your workouts is a surefire way to build more muscle and lose your gut. Ron Harris gives MD readers plenty of ideas in “Boost Your Muscle Gains Now! 14 Techniques to Ignite Explosive Intensity.”

Ben Pakulski, the Canadian pro they call “Pak-Man,” has a pair of boulder shoulders that pop off the cover of this month’s MD. Years of intense yet intelligent training created those boulders you see today. Ben explains how he built his massive shoulders in “The Ultimate Delt Workout! Can’t-fail Techniques to Make You W-I-D-E with Ben Pakulski.”

Mr. Olympian Dexter Jackson, a five-time Arnold Classic winner, has one of the best backs in bodybuilding. Dexter is known for his razor-sharp condition because he trains hard and smart. The Blade gives MD readers the lowdown on building your best back possible in “Back to Basics: Dexter Jackson’s ‘Older and Wiser’ Back Training.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger remains passionate about bodybuilding, which is one reason the seven-time Mr. Olympia bought up the issue of distended midsections of some of today’s pros. In “His Gut Feeling: Arnold Lashes Out at Judging,” an MD special report by Dan Solomon, a roundtable of bodybuilding experts discuss Arnold’s comments. Is it fair to blame the judges? Are the athletes responsible? As Ron Harris put it, “Some of the blame has to also go to the fans. The fans were really the force that fueled the trend toward mass monsters.” The question is, what to do now?

Muscular Development is your number-one source for building muscle, and for the latest research and best science to enable you to train smart and effectively. Our team of physicians, industry experts and research scientists has these reports on “the big gut dilemma” this month:

The rest of the book is packed to the binder as usual— making MD your one-stop, most authoritative source for optimizing muscular development with the latest cutting-edge research on training, nutrition, fat loss, performance-enhancing drugs, muscle growth and bodybuilding science— and exclusive information from the industry experts, insiders and bodybuilding legends who make it all happen. You're right. This pic would have been a lot more appropriate for this month cover titled loose ur gut.

I'm not the hugest Ben Pak fan, so please don't take this as "dickriding" (or whatever other awesome term is being thrown around these days), but...

I was at the Arnold this year, and Pakulski's stomach was NOTICEABLY smaller and flatter than in years past. Granted, he looked down in size overall, BUT his midsection was flat, and tight. Several of my friends that were there (all fans who regularly follow bodybuilding), noticed the same thing. Maybe they used Pak because he actually figured out a way this year to get RID of the gut, and downsize? Just speculating.

This isn't going to end well...I think Jose lost his mind last time the infamous pic of the "gut shot with the trophy" was posted and discussed. I also agree that PacMan isn't probably the BEST candidate to be on the cover titled "Lose your Gut".

So is this "Lose your gut" FOR Ben Pakulski or BY Ben Pakulski?
