Yo Shawn. I did that 'Train with Shawn Ray Day' session with you back in 2002. We trained chest at Milos' and then you showed me around your crib.

Hope your home and family is safe with all the fires going on.

You never answered this question before but here goes, what was the biggest you ever taped your arms at? And if you do answer, Contest condition and off season.

    Take care man!

    Shawn,
you said on No Bull, that you didn't really share your "real training style" in the mags. Is this true for many of the pros that have training articles in the mags, that don't really give their own training style??

    Thaks Shawn

I can still remember watching a battle of the olympia video as a kid and being amazed and so impressed with your level of professionalism. It was my first time questioning bodybuilding politics, wondering how such athlete at your level was not a Mr. Olympia. I then remember quickly purchasing The Final Countdown, which I watched countless times in amazment of your dedication and level of performance. Truly one of the best bodybuilders we will ever see.

    * what was the biggest you ever taped your arms at?
I never measured anything my entire career, I knew I was smaller than the competition so why waste time on confirming it with a measuring tape, the Judges never asked.
    * how did you practice & progress in your posing
The same way I did my training, daily, routinely with enthusiasm and aggression.
    * Helped the sometimes Sarcev with training or diet before competes
You can't help someone who already think they know everything. I trained with him, he dieted, end story.
I believe I was at my Peak from 93 to 97.
*will in essen FIBO NEXT YEAR?
HOW OFTEN HAVE YOU GOT NOW TRAINING ?3-4 WEEK
No, I will be back in the gym in November 3 days a week.
    * Shawn what are your predictions for this YEARS ARNOLD HEATH VS DEXTER BRANCH IN THE MIX TOO
I think it will be interesting but I'd like to see Phil pull this one out!
    * What was your pre-contest and off-season cardio like
I loved cardio and did it 4 times a week alternating the Treadmill and Stationary Bike weekly on or offseason. It allowed me to eat more food, which I enjoyed.
    * Hope your home and family is safe with all the fires going on.
We are not close to the fires but Ash and Fire Fumes in the air have ruined the sweet smell of Horses and Cow Manuer.
    * Is this true for many of the pros that have training articles in the mags, that don't really give their own training style??
I can't speak for other Pro's I know I write my own stuff or speak into a Tape Recorder. In that comment I meant I never really went into much detail about Dieting and Supplements but I have a video that details my training from A to Z called To the Extreme.
    Peace,
    S. Ray

    Hey Shawn,

I'm a 22 yr old NPC competitor who has done pretty well on the state level since I started 3 years ago. I am 5, 10, and once dehydrated, I weigh-in at 208 lbs. A judge told me after one of my shows " man, you always come in shredded, but you really need to get to 280lbs in the off-season." I thought his advice was ignorant and sounded hazardous to my health. I have practiced staying lean in the off-season, is this wrong? Should I focus on maxing out my genetic potential safely as possible and fill out my frame for a national level comeptition? Obviously you filled out quicker than I will because our heights are different but, does this judge's advice have merit? Your opinion means alot, thank you.
