    different muscle Groups Need different reps/sets. I like high reps on legs,arms calfs,abs.

    Also, in different exercises for the same muscle. It makes sense to go heavy in squats, not so much in the leg press or quads extensions.

    i have found that it comes down to individuals genetics as to which exercise and how many reps will make it grow..
    for instance only dips and tricep extension machine will make my triceps grow

    leg press i like high reps this is true it really makes my quads grow much faster than low reps. you see some guys loading up the leg press and barely moving their legs.

    i use an old School Tri bar for my triceps now.. where i have a parallel grip(hammer grip) sure you can use Bells over head but this bar helps me because i had a neck injury which causes me difficulty in some tricep exercises. nerve impingment C6/7. the parallel grip lets me work the triceps well over head and i use 12-15 reps. as you mentioned the Tri machine is also good and the machine in the gym at ours is also a hammer grip. works well too.
