I went through the blood and guts phase when I was young. I honestly wonder if it was the best approach at the time who knows. Now I've switched to a higher volume type

I've always said I wasted my prime growing years because I had gotten brain washed by Mentzer.

Mentzer was even more minimalist or extreme , I'm too old for that shit now

Back in the 80s I tried his workout.
Didn't work for me as I have always been a natural.

I think I still have an autographed copy of the Heavy Duty book I ordered from him

Edit: It did not work the way I thought (hoped) it would.
I grew some on it, but I discovered I react better to higher volumes and more frequent workouts.

I'm actually taking a few days off ; something I rarely do. Ron is covering the USA's so I took the time to rest and recover . Hopefully going to hit it hard when we're back on Tuesday. I'm also not in the most anabolic state right now

I feel i wasted my prime growing years by not being enhanced. LOL. Serious though. I feel I got pretty strong for myself and will always wonder "what if".
Hitting the big 4-0 next week with injuries, tweaks and twinges... I feel right around 26 years old would have been perfect (for me).

Goon, enjoy the bit of rest. Always does a body good I think. We are cut from the same cloth and always want to push, push, push. Certainly not always the best route though.

I wonder that too. I took a very long time between enhanced periods . What if , hmmm

My joints feel great and I'm anxious to train. The time did me good

    Great quad workout Goon.
Looks like the 315 close stance squats are progressing well.

That 12 plates x 17 on a leg press is impressive after doing those squats.
I bet your quads were fried after all that.

Thank you , I am becoming more comfortable with the stance. Yes my legs were toast after the squats and presses. I ended up just using body weight for walking lunges.
