Never. I'd say the majority of CPD guys should not have pro cards. Sure the top guys are great, but the depth and quality in this class is a joke.

    I agree
Particularly not convinced yet, but by the competitors in the shows of 2017 much is left for the category to be considered "relevant"

Some good points made which made for a great episode, but I don't think even Shawn Ray believes classic will replace the open. Just watch him struggle to name the up and comers in Classic. (3.08 mark)

The main course will always be mens open bodybuilding, but classic will become a successful orderve just like the 212.

Also SRay knows why Flex is doing Classic and not open. He only has one small functioning kidney.

The episode smells a little like fake news

Dave is traveling to Vegas and buying tickets for classic Olympia. Must be the only fan in the industry, lol

This. Classic, the real edge, will always be free of this and all etc - why? Bec. Its about art, it happens and there it is. It might be a pose or, in few cases, a real builder. We all know it when we see it.

yes it could, since i see many white guys flocking to Classic now over Open Bodybuilding..
no epic white guys then fail division..
Classic has already made Men's Physique obsolete for the most part,
now you will have some guys in Classic who will go in the 212 which will be good but i don't know about the Open

^ because of this we could see an increase in the 212 division

Doesn't matter if they are white or black. The difference between the great CPD guys and the rest of the pack is crazy. Very fee true.classic physiques. Even the winner George wasn't as good as NY and isn't remotely classic

In terms of numbers, CPD is growing exponentially while open bb'ing is going the way of the dinosaur. Just check your local NQ shows, very few open bb'ers, and tons of CPD competitors. The key for CPD that will make it popular will be the posing rd aspect of it. The posing along with great symmetrical physique's will make it popular.

This yr's CPD will definitely be one to watch as these young up and comers try to make a name for themselves. Yes, Danny Hester won last yr, but that was straight politics, old veteran bb'er that took 20 yrs to get his Pro card, paid his dues and got rewarded by the powers that be. Not this yr, there are quite a few great physiques that will be top 6.

    1. Arash Rahbar
    2, Breon Ansley
    3. Robert Timms
    4. Chris Bumstead
    5. Ruffin
    6. Sadik

It will be more interesting than the open bb'ing. We all know Heath is going to win again.. boring for sure.

It doesn't matter which divisions people are doing at local shows. By that logic, MPD and bikini should replace open BB. The open is still and always will be the main event in the pro ranks.

Plenty of videos of the old HOF bb'ers interviewed saying they can't relate to what they see now, with the distended guts.. just a different sport to them now. They don't even watch it or know who's who.. sad.

CPD has more appeal to the general public than the bloated 300 lb bb'ers you see today. It's just not pleasing to look at, in fact, looks dangerously unhealthy.

It's like in boxing, different weight class divisions ruled the sport in different time periods, there's chance same could happen here in next 5 yrs or so in the IFBB.

Dosent matter how much it grows if the quality sucks. The guys you named are great but this division is so watered down. There were guys competing that couldn't win a state show. No clue how they got a pro card.

I think quality wise the lineups in smaller shows will develop in due time, its a relatively new class so it will take some time , but the potential is there & it will definitely grow its fan base.

Quality wise, even a more developed class like open bodybuilding has not always best lineups in smaller shows, only top 2 or 3 good guys rest are so so..
Hardcore bodybuilding fans will always follow open bodybuilding no matter what..

so No CPD will not replace open instead it will grow its own fan followings ..
    Why so Serious?

The division is new and is finding itself so to speak . I think over time the quality will increase. It's been a few years now and MPD has changed drastically so won't classic
