He said in an interview that he wrote a letter to Jim Manion(NOT Santoja)asking for a pro card and stating his contest history and Manion gave him a pro card. Either Delev or you are not saying the truth and I don't know why he would be lying.
Don't know about this instance, but before there were IFBB Pro League International Pro Qualifiers (first one Jan. 6, 2018 in Tunisia) where athletes competed in NPC, but were unable to compete in nationals due to not being citizens they could request that NPC president write a letter to the affiliated IFBB national federation. Typically the athlete needed to win 6 or so national qualifying overalls for that to occur. That said, even with such a letter from the NPC president the national federations still had the latitude to grant them or not. I've known competitors who have won more than six, one in Florida years ago who came to the U.S. from Peru as a child and who couldn't compete at nationals due to not being a citizen and that country a member of the South American Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (CSFF) would not grant her the card even with letter from NPC president. They wanted her to compete in their events even though their look was different and she essentially hadn't been there since a kid. So maybe in some people's minds the NPC president should never intervene with letter per request of the athletes, but now its not an issue. Win and you are in.
That said, where did Erin compete to earn pro status in the NSL? Or the Elite Pro Circuit? For all of Santoja's criticism of the athletes and judging criteria in the pro league after the 2017 Olympia he just provided pro status to Erin without her having to qualify for their new professional circuit.

Lots of people compete in smaller NPC shows from other countries...nothing new there.

I don't know what he won/ didn't win in Bulgaria

He certainly could have written to Manion requesting a pro card, and Manion would've referred it back to Bulgaria, or wherever he's from for verification, or a letter of recognition from his federation there.

ONCE AGAIN...people are missing the point here while you all scrounge around trying to find an example to refute what I'm saying.

Dan Hill, Dobri, etc etc...are competitors who were granted pro cards NOT through the NPC system...and people coming up through Europe/ etc. were under Raphael and his people. They had their own weird system of rewarding pro cards.

Our system is a simple one : You win= you're in. What is advertised is what is delivered...no questions about it, no resume submitted, no other factors considered. No thousands of dollars to obtain it...

Going forward I think it will be interesting to see if Raphael continues to let in past IFBB pros and new IFBB Pro League athletes without further qualification to build his pro ranks. I can see their incentive to allow in athletes with developed names and brands who have about reached or surpassed their competitive years and those who get Pro League qualified that have marketability value for Raphael's league. If they do so it further points to deviating from a cut and dry system for earning pro status. Would people support that? Some argument could be made that's the way their league has always done things and it worked for them in the past so why not in the future? Moral & Ethical purity doesn't come with a trophy or prize money. It's just business.
