Such a great young guy, one of my favorite interviews. And it was probably 15 years ago that I interviewed his father!

Great interview Ron! Thanks for doing this and taking our questions.

I'm not sure if it's the nostalgia, or the mysticism from when Sergio Oliva Sr competed; but I think his dad still had better genetics than Sergio.

Guy was notorious for his diet of beans, rice and soda while working 10-12 hours a day in a factory and then training afterwards.

Steroid science wasn't as well evolved, no GH (unless cadaver but barely anybody in the 60s- early 70s used that), no insulin, no peptides, no advancement in training knowledge; and Sergio Oliva Sr. was still a spectacle.

AJ, sorry, you submitted your questions last. By the time I got to them, we had already been talking almost an hour. But I did get a few of them in there, and I did get him to acknowledge he knows you from Facebook as Robert Kelly.

Great Ron. Sergio is so candid and real. Why did you not ask my question about consciously making an effort to be different than his dad. He eluded to it many times during the interview. It wasn't meant to be disreespectful. He is very open and honest about everything.
Just gonna say this although Sergio may not want to hear it. Sergio would make a fantastic Mr.O. I am not talking about his physique when I say it.

Basically, that question could have been taken as, "your dad was known to be an a-hole, do you purposely try not to be one?" Had I asked all the questions and had nothing to talk about with only 30 minutes taped, I probably would have asked it anyway. But we got over an hour, which is what I feel the upper limit for these interviews should be.
