It wasn't stupid, movies are a big part of our lives for better or worse.

You do look rather "fetching" in that red and white T-shirt .

Ok, I have a serious topic for your Ron line . 100% serious.

I know you competed with and without chemical assistance.
I competed "both ways" and did mostly Untested NPC shows with mixed success.

My question / topic is : Should a drug free bodybuilder compete only in natural or tested shows ?
Is it better to compete on local/regional shows and just do your best?

For me, it was a real hassle and more costly to attend natural contests.
Most were pretty small, obscure and had questionable drug testing.

    Thanks!

Thanks and I sincerely believe this topic will generate a lot of interest and passionate debate.
In my view, if you refuse to do "everything possible" you won't become a top pro.
So, you may as well enjoy bodybuilding as a hobby and lifestyle.
If I wanted to see the top guys, I'd buy a ticket and WATCH them.

When I competed the best local or regional events near me were Untested NPC contests.
It made MORE sense to compete in the nearby NPC state show, then travel 1000 miles to the Natural Podunk held at some truck stop*
    * John Hansen told me that the Natural Olympia was held at a truck stop banquet room .

I guess the topic could be "Should I compete as a natural in non-tested shows?"

I will mention it, but I helped a young guy turn pro in an org called the OCB a few months ago. They couldn't get the sound system going, so the head judge had to yell out the poses and all that, and NO ONE got to do their posing routines!

Bodybuilding shows rarely had a huge market or big $$ financial backing.
Natural shows are a smaller slice of an already obscure market.

I competed in a natural contest in this loading dock area beside the guys gym.
the "sound system" was a boom box turned up full blast on the side of the platform.
