The fact almost all the videos we see from the 90's are sharpened (or low quality and make people appear grainier) has really increased the nostalgia around the "90s bodybuilders".

Got nothing to do with the guys who just sit on their phone all the time.

    No training just facebooking.

so much potential out there still but so much more distraction.

    Coincidence...
Have to agree with you Ron. It’s what popped in my mind before looking at the video.

One thing I failed to mention is that in the past, all the guys with great genetics who wanted to compete went into bodybuilding, because that's all there was.

Nowadays, I am certain there are plenty of men who would make excellent Open bodybuilders, yet for whatever reason choose MPD or Classic instead. So maybe the gene pool isn't so different from the 90's, but we never see the potential of a lot of guys who would have been bb's in the past.

My theory on the look is abuse of slin and site enhancement.

Great video Ron. A lot of solid points.

I agree with the above in regards to more Slin, GH and SEO today but Levrone said it best. Guys today want it fast and don’t want to put in the work. Guys like Levrone, Ray, Flex, Dorian, Ronnie etc., shed blood, sweat and tears during prep. No cheats, 100% dedication.

Levrone gave us good insight into the difference in eras as the only one to train through and be among bodybuilders from both eras and he said flat out that guys today do not have the same work ethic and rely much more heavily upon Gear than guys did in the 90’s. Guys today look for shortcuts and try to gain the most amount of muscle while doing the least amount of work possible. It’s not to say that guys today do not work hard but guys in the 90’s had much more basic pharmaceuticals and just plain worked harder. Much more passion and sacrifice back then imo.

Good video. I have just one wish. Ron, can you buy a new 4k camera? The video looks like from 2001 (the picture quality).

No way, 4K would show how old I really look.
