it'd be a more higher level chat with facts and not make believe nonsense. Some of us like that more.

That Peak Week and Competition Day Dietary Strategies abstract thread that he posted here was excellent.
That is the kind of thing I would like to see more of on MD.

I don't aim these necessarily at newbies, but I will answer some questions that the more advanced guys here don't really need to listen to. Thanks for those questions Swingslammer!

    Hey Ron,

    The Business of Bodybuilding.

How making money has changed in regards to the sport both from an athlete’s standpoint as well as industry insider’s standpoint such as yourself over the past 30 years? It would be interesting to hear your views seeing as you have been in the game since the early 90’s and were around when the magazines and supplement sponsorships were the big paydays versus now with social media and the opportunities today’s athletes have that guys from the 90’s never could have dreamed of.

    Some points to consider.

    1. Was it easier to make money back in the 90’s? Was there a pretty lucrative and standard salary that most top pros could make with a good supplement/magazine/Weider sponsorship? What was the average money like for these guys?

    2. Do you have to hustle more today and be more of a freelance entrepreneur? Can you therefore make more money if you are hungry and less if you are lazy? Are the days of making a living off sponsorship alone pretty much gone?

    3. From an industry insider’s standpoint, how has the technology and social media landscape changed your job? Do you prefer the emerging technology and various platforms today versus the print media of the 90’s? How is M.D. coping with the changing times? Do you and M.D. see more opportunity or more challenges given that your traditional dominant platform is/was print?

    4. We all know that salaries for athletes have always varied quite widely but what kind of money are top 6 pros making today compared with the 90’s? Which era was more lucrative? Adjust numbers for inflation of course. We all know that guys like Shawn Ray, Flex Wheeler and Levrone were masters at their craft in the 90’s in terms of making bucks but how does that compare with the masters of today? Ie. A Kai Greene? How are things different, what new opportunities are there etc.

I think this would be a decent topic because I always read and hear on podcasts about fans asking how much bodybuilders make in terms of salary

    Another topic could be:

    The Guru VS Non-Guru Era.

We all know how outspoken Shawn Ray is on this topic as are others like Kevin Levrone etc. Back in the 90’s, Guru’s were few and far between, today, it is the exact opposite, rarely if ever, do you see a top pro without a Guru. How do you feel about this? Do you think guys in the 90’s had it right in terms of knowing their bodies best and what does and doesn’t work? Do you think guys today are less educated, perhaps a bit lackadaisical when it comes to nutrition and pharmaceuticals and therefore rely too heavily on Guru’s who have at times been criticized for using their athletes in dangerous and experimental ways?

also Guy Cisternino has disapeard like the guy who was on True Life: i'm a bodybuilder from the Jersey Shore... i loved the part when he made his father shave his ass then farted in his face.. a true jersey shore guido
