What exactly is a hematoma, and how is it drained? Sounds grim.

    Hows the pec feeling Bro?
I looked at the brusing pics again, damn that must have been scarry as hell- mine bruised bad but noty nearly as bad.

With as quick as you got surgery your pec should be back to perfect- mien took 8 weeks- My first ortho guy told me mine was fine and after 8 weeks said go ahead and start training again. Thanks to my wife and Vic (pittorthodr) got a second opinion- my ortho at Duke said worst pec tear he has seen and I should have been in surgery 8 weeks earlier-

Back to training- upper body- sticking in the 20 rep range for chest and 12-15 for everything else-hardest things are I lost alot of strenght and my mind cant let go off that damn tear so I am alittle leary with my chest- hopefully in the next few weeks I can start packing on the size and weight again.

Stay safe and heal quick bro

man that sucks dude. I noticed that too... pretty much every doc I went to said "aww you don't need surgery" until I met with an actual surgeon. Thank goodness I pushed for it. I'm glad to hear you are back at it. do you have a structural deformity from the tearing?

once again i want thank everyone.
i hope to use this thread as an open discussion betwwen those of us who are or have gone through this and anyone else with questions on how to avoid it.
doc said our surgery timing was perfect. with all the swelling u see in those pics 4 days after it happened, he wouldn't have seen much. my swelling eent way down in the 14 days from d day to surgery.
the hematoma was key cause all the pec had pulled near the sternom, but my chest was still full and round ?...the outer part of my chest wasn't muscle, just a softball size blood clot.
the torn muscle had begun to form to my skin and rib cage,so he had to really work the muscles so they would rlease there grip.
he put permanant sutures inside to hold the muscle together.
6 weeks in the sling. i canmove my elbow and stuff everyday so it doesn't get too stiff. hopefully so light weights in6 months.
