It's hilarious that they made you buy the supplements. Dirty cunts. I really dislike that company.
Well, that was obviously part of the plan. I commend MuscleTech for sponsoring cool events and activities related to bodybuilding, but the contest was absolutely a promotion. And an effective one at that. They apparently got 1,000-plus contestants to purchase at least one of their supplements as an entry requirement. I believe the least expensive item was $16 for garden variety Hydroxycut.

I've heard only about 45 people actually completed the process (before and after pics and an essay submitted by a specific deadline). So I've got a one-in-45 chance of winning. lol Better than the lottery. But, no, I made zip so far as visible progress is concerned.

"B-b-but the contest helped me to mature and become a better person. Really it did. God bless MuscleTech!"

Again, it was a promotion and a marketing tool, however many of the participants really made AMAZING TRANSFORMATIONS!

you are a real contest junkie.
    I knew it. :-(

Yeah, 12 pounds in 15 weeks. Meh. I can definitely become a stick.

    Curtis James, prisoner of war

lol It's putting muscle mass on that gives me a bit of trouble.

rescuemadden (the guy in the before/after) definitely followed the stereotypical (yet effective) before and after template.

haHA on the contest junkie! I did the MuscleTech one and a Jason Ferruggia one simultaneously. That one got next to zero participants and the grand prize is $1000.00. I'll probably get a t-shirt. Or a copy of his book Fit to Fight... which I already own.

Honestly, I had an absolute blast in the MT contest thread. And I am a faithful follower and advocate of Ferruggia's low volume philosophy. Yeah, I'm sure I'll do high volume again - maybe today! But the routine he planned out gets me in and out of the gym in record time AND making strength gains.

It should go without saying that I love MD. "I love MD!" Okay, it can go WITH saying, too. Looking forward to participating productively in your thread, Steve G.

Delete whatever you believe to be unnecessary. I will not take offense. The Pit mentality is where it's at - you better have a thick skin or geddafokkowt! :-D

You have trouble putting on muscle because you do way too much cardio! You don't have to do so much to keep your waist small- You're just burning away any muscle you might be gaining from lifting! What's your current diet?

    Holy crap you are shreaded.

    Contests are fun IMO.

Hey man, I got no powers, I am just a Joe around here. I can't add or delete anything. It is funny, with the Pit cause anything goes there which is cool, or the 18+ anything goes there, fine, but then if you say something out of the Pit like I did, and basically call a spade a spade right? people then get up tight themself and tell me to lighten up? lighten up about what? lighten up about saying that soft porn should go in the porn section? if a mod wanted it gone it would have already been deleted I am sure. it's all good.

so you are bulking I gotta assume. rebound bulks rule. I personally have never had one, this is part of why I am cutting. to actually get to experience one cause once the body is primed for growth, from what they say, you have a solid 3 months to really pack on muscle. I bet you will see quite a gain if you eat right. my wife just finished her first show about 4 weeks ago or so, she hit the stage at 119, she has been bulking ever since and is at 140 . Yeah, alot of that is water but still, she is a growing girl and getting stronger every workout. You are going to pack on the lbs CJ and just might be the dark horse of the contest, everyone else is cutting and you pack on 10lbs muscle, given how lean you already are, you could steal it.

I should have put my training journal in The Pit.

I'll just have to add the following to my sig file. Can I get an expanded signature block, please?

Attention: I'm currently enjoying a friendly contest with an online workout partner. One point for every 20 minutes of cardio and five points for every weight workout. Scores are tallied at the end of each week (Saturday at 11:59:59 p.m.). I ran cross country in high school and I actually like cardio. Any statements such as "It's putting muscle mass on that gives me a bit of trouble" are not to be interpreted as a complaint nor a solicitation for advice. That's not to say that I'm not amenable to information and commentary, however.

Shredded without muscle is ridiculous, though. I saw a guy take his class over a guy with higher bf% but a much better physique at a competition this year. I guess the judges only looked at conditioning and not the actual look of the guy. The skinny guy was totally ripped, tanned, but not a look I'd want to copy.

You're right on the soft porn. I coulda held back on that vid. It'll scroll off page soon enough, though. SO LIGHTEN UP!

    (ducks, runs, etc.)

What was your wife's first show? Was she happy with her placing and the experience? Great that she competed!

I'm not worried about stealing anything. Just along for the ride. I love lifting and will hopefully gain some strength between now and November. Ten bodyweight pull ups is a goal right now.

Wishing you and your wife continued success, Steve.

She looks great! The winner held her legs pretty oddly and her shoulders were not nearly as broad as your wife's. Hard to tell much from that YouTube since the images are so tiny. November is her next show? I thought that's what I read. Well, best wishes!

yeah, you pretty much nailed it. the winner had a different way of posing for sure. can't really take much away from her thou, it was her 5th or 6th show and she was confident and had thicker legs and abs than J and it was just J's first show, still learning stage presence etc... . I thought J won but I am very bias. I am kinda glad she didn't thou cause now she is really focused on bringing up her weak areas, until you get on stage, it is really hard to tell what exactly you gotta bring up.

All South in November is her next one. www.allsouthchampionships.com That is a biggy so she is just doing it more for experience and then looking to bring it strong next year.

So you do alot of compond stuff from the looks of your training. Dabear got me onto the Super Squat program. Ever heard of it?

Best of luck with All South.

Super Squats? There was an Iron Man book. I forget the author. 20-rep squats? I just subbed to your journal, so I'll take a look.

Yes that's me in the avatar- my 4th show this past May.
Your diet- try cutting the carbs, and upping the healthy fats, and do less cardio, and I bet you'll put on a little more mass.

    Perhaps you missed the smiley.

I said I was amenable to commentary. Just don't necessarily need someone telling me not to do cardio. What's up with the cardio hate? lol

That's in general and not a question directed at you specifically.

I take regular doses of extra virgin olive oil. A tablespoon with a meal at least once a day. Does that fill the healthy fat quota?

I'm changing my diet to high protein, high carb, high fat, high intolerance to this smiley: Stop that! You'll get a concussion.

Nice abs. Again, kudos. How'd you do in your contests? I admire anyone who competes. I really enjoy attending shows. Although I shake my head when that competitor arrives on stage. You know the one, fat, unshaved, can't pose, wtf?

What's your next competition? Best of luck with it, of course.
