Hit a PR today on squats. I've been following HOSS since September and when I started my squats were 245 x 5. Today I hit 365 x 1. No wraps, only a belt.

    I am well.
last week 495 for a double followed by 365 for 10
this week it was 5x5 on the HAck squat with 3 plates a side (our hack squat machine is HEAVY)
Keep at it, that 325 will go!

I know what you mean....I've used hack squat machines at some gyms where 5-6 plates/side feels like 3 plates LOL ours feels VERY heavy too....the most I usually go up to is 4 plates/side but usually go right to 3 for my sets after all the squatting I do.

Wish I was at 365 at your age!
If you are going to try a single try a warm up like this:
    bar x 20
    135 x 10
    185, 225, 275 for triples
    315 x 1 then maybe 375-380 for 1 and go from there.

I've never had more than 245 on my back, so right now I am just trying to work with 225 to get to 20 reps (at 11 reps right now). On the leg press, I can do, I dunno, 700 (LOL). Any correlation? I think not. haha.

That's a good approach actually Kentucky.....and focus on excellent form, go nice and deep AND control the weight. When you can do 20 reps with 225 with great form you'll have no problems when you start going heavier and dropping the reps.

I love going deep, because I feel like I'm really getting a good workout. Since, my numbers aren't anything to brag about, I have no ego to satisfy (getting up 300 for a quarter of the way down). I'm trying to get my deads up there too (floating at 225 area now for reps). I also have a trap bar that I use for variety.

When you do a heavy set for reps, it feels like you just sprinted a mile, or two.

I just started reading this thread and I have to believe the guys with videos. I have seen too many people in the gym that claim they can squat a ton, and come nowhere near low enough. The last time I squatted for max was in high school, I did 355 at 185lbs with no belt and no wraps, and for that to count your hip socket had to fall below knee. None of this barely bend the knees shit, watch Ed Coan-greatest powerlifter of all time

This is one area I REALLY need to work on. I think my form is alright, but I am gonna have to get a vid for advice here soon.

This Thursday got 365 up for 4 no belt no wraps. The whole day I didn't feel like I was getting deep enough but my training partner said it looked good. I will try to get the camera in sometime.

245 for 4, 10 second rest then 2 more. 6'1 16 years old. i picked up my leg workouts again last spring, so i've been working hard ever since. I only use to use the smith machine and could get over 160 lbs. just recently a few months ago switched to free weight.

    ** ass to ground too.

Haven't done much squats heavy yet. I started training in late November and have been really working on leg press so far. I'm 5'6" @ 220 I set my recored last Monday w/ 1,130lbs x 8. I was jacked. I have really short legs which I think helps. I'm going to work on the squat and post my results

315-so frustrating. I can get a set of 20 FULL DEPTH with 225, but for some reason the "heavier" weights sort of hold me back. Hoping to break 400 soon though.
