    Default Greg DeFerro (1953-2007)

    Sad news...

I just learned (from Lee Haney) of the passing of Greg Deferro from heart disease at the age of 53. I don't know much more than that, except that he apparently died a few weeks ago. I've emailed one of his coworkers to get specifics.

I knew Greg quite well. He managed a gym in PA for a while, and although we did not always see eye to eye, he was a great bodybuilder.

    Sad news really.

Another one??! Why is it that the people who live for the healthy lifestyle and vigor and vitality die young, and the people who smoke and eat horribly live to be older than dirt?? What is wrong with this picture???

    R.I.P. sir.

Well, the assumption being that bodybuilding is a "healthy lifestyle".......not so much.

Well, in theory, it is, but in all practicality, if one is chemically enhanced rather heavily, of course not. Of course, I cannot say if this was the case with Mr. DeFerro, and I definitely cannot speak on the possible cause of his death being related to steroids...

I just find it cruelly ironic that those who promote this lifestyle and seek to live at the pinnacle of their health die, SUDDENLY I might add, while those who do not care enough to make the change (and unfortunately there is quite a large number of them) live out a full seven or eight decades, or perhaps even nine. Then, there are plenty that we do not know about who live long and healthy lives, I am sure...

    Just something I noticed.

Who knows? I would not be one of those asking that question, or making that assumption though. That is crazy to think that steroids are the cause when a bodybuilder passes on.

    Default Early deaths

Very sorry to hear about DeFerro. May he rest in peace.

If you look at just about any obituary column, you will see that people of all ages are represented. True, more are older, but it is not at all unusual to see death notices of people in their 40s, 30s, 20s & even younger. Whenever a bodybuilder dies, the first word that comes up is "steroids." That suggests that even inside the BB world, people think pretty much like the mainstream (& presumably more ignorant) public about these issues.

God bless his soul and may the loved ones he's left behind be wathced over by the LOrd our father.

Heart disease at 53 years young I hope this isn't going to become a trend as the classic era bb'ers reach there late 50's and 60's?

    God forbid!!!
