I wanted to publically congratulate 2 of my athletes who triumphed this weekend.

Gina Iaquaniello won the u52kg UK Powerlifting championships this weekend with a total of 380kgs. She benched 70kgs, squatted 160kgs and deadlifted 150kgs. What is even more remarkable is that she only started lifting weights in Jan this year and lost 10kgs over 10 weeks whilst maintaining and even increasing her strength. She also trains completely naturally!!!

Bob Dawson also became IFBA Masters Mr Universe in Italy on sunday 5th July. Bob is 55 years young and did tremendously well and is looking forward to competing again in around 4 months time, so no binging on cheesecake!!!!

Well done to both of them.

I have now started filming my new DVD "2010 ~ The Awakening".

It will document the whole of my off season, not just my prep but my life too and what I will be up to over the coming 12 months. It will then lead into my first pro show in the U.S, with footage already planned whilst I am out there.

Both myself and Dale at Creative Ecco have some fantastic ideas for this one and will bravely go where no other DVD's have feared to tread.

There will be some familier faces and some new ones as well as legends within our sport talking candidly about bodybuilding and the people within it.

There will be a few more promo's over the next few months to look out for.

Just another couple of days and I'll be winging my way over to Dallas to support my friends Lee and John at the Europa. They had an incredible time in Tampa, coming 3rd and 2nd respectively and I am hoping they can bring their A game again to Dallas.
I'm also looking forward to seeing my friend and coach Neil Hill who has been out there with them over the last week, helping them with their final preparations.

I am hoping it will fire me up for my pro debut next year in the 202 class earlier in 2010 and then hope to do both the Tampa and the Europa as well.

I'll be flying in to Dallas on Thursday and returning back to London on the sunday evening/monday morning....Bring it on!!!!

    Hey Shina,

How you doing, great to see you here!!
Nic has got to work so I'll be coming over with Daz and James (Team Muscletalk) and we all cant wait.
Be great to see Flex again, Neil said he is looking phenominal and I cant wait to see him at the Atlantic City in around 6 weeks time.
It really will be a British Invasion at the Olympia this year and both Nic and I will be there to cheer all the boys on. We have 3/4 days in Venice and then we are getting a 4x4 and driving to Vegas for another 7 nights!!!

Stay in touch and if you speak to flex (which of course you will do) tell him I said hi and I'll see him over the weekend.

Is he staying at the Official hotel (Hyatt Int)? if so, I'll see him there!!

James, I read that you stop training legs and go very easy on your leg muscles to help them dry out. I am currently 4 weeks our from my competition. My job has me walking and on my feet all day from 8-5 (sucks for training!) but anyway, do u suggest I take a few days off work before my show to help harden up my legs also or is it neccessary?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

It will effect your gains in that they will be more noticeable!!!!

Remember that nutrition here is vital as well as quality rest and sleep.

Smash it hard and heavy in the gym and 3x a week is plenty!

Hey, that's great to hear that I inspired you. At your age I hadn't even thought about competing so you are one step ahead of me!!!

I just felt I was getting nowhere fast and as I have an addictive personality I knew that I could give BBing a good crack of the whip. I stopped drinking and smoking on the same day some 9 years ago now and never looked back!!
    Best of luck bro

Yes I am a big fan of giving my legs around 2 weeks off heavy training in the lead up to a show. I also like to back off the cardio intensity in the last week too, to give my legs a chance to dry out further after weeks of hammering them with incline tread or x trainer.

Taking time off work is important in the carb up (3 days prior) but 2 weeks is a little excessive; you got to earn some money to pay for all that good food you can have afterwards!!

    Best of luck

Thanks alot for your reply James, really appreciate it.

Do you have any suggestions for a sample carb deplete load for the final week? And one more question is this the exact tan you use....?

Thank you, and I forgot to say it in my last post, but its inspirational and admirable your attitude towards your cancer....kick its ass J!

    Look forward to your reply.
