Insurance coverage is a big problem. Most of the cases are considered cosmetic surgery by those company. I wish I would have an answer but unfortunately coverage is extremely rare and unpredictable.

For ingrown hairs, I suggest shaving regularly with a Fresh, clean, blade. Don't re-use the same blade too many times. Also, don't wait to long between shaves!

Great advice!! A doctor gave me some years ago after a problem I kept having with a staff infection. Wash prior with anti bacterial soap and also use it as well with the shave gel. Ingrown hairs usually are a result of infected hair follicles.... Known as Folliculitis.

Clindagel works well if its overly infected.

I find that DIAL soap works phenomenal as well.

Hello Dr. I have a cosmetic problem that I would appreciate an opinion on. Back in 1999, I had a L5-S1 Discotomy with very little success, the pain is constant and chronic, however my question is that my surgeon gave me a staph infection during the procedure and left a huge hole in my back almost 2-3 inches deep into my back. I went to an infectious disease doctor and had a serious course (IV) antibioutcs for months to finally fill the hole however, it left a HUGE scar ugly scar that is embarassing. WHat can they do to try and fix this honestly I tried to take a pic of it but it didn;t relly show well, but it honestly looks likea belly-button...

    Thanks

    Hi,

In cases such as yours, there is no substitute for a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. Based on your description alone, I can't say anything at all definitive. A surgeon will have to determine, after a consultative evaluation, what your options are. There is sometimes the option to reduce scarring, but this is not always possible.

I wish you luck with your problem.

    Default gyno, lumps

I have a question for the doc. I believe I have gyno. but never been diagnosed. I have some by comparing pics here. I also can feel some lumps. some nickle size ,some more together in each breast area. i had a ultra sound done and they said they could feel the masses. but could not see them on ultrasound. Nurse practioner has not refered me to anyone else. lumps still there, and some fat. are lumps normal with some gyno?

I would need more information as age, height ,weight, medical history and photos. This will help but it is not a substitute for an physical examination by a Gynecomastia Surgeon. If I can be of more help do not hesitate to get in tuch with us.

    dr. blau,

do puffy nipples just go away after you remove the gland or is it another procedure alltogether. for example (i believe this is derek anthony) on the before picture his nipples are puffy and protruding but in the after picture they are smaller and much less prominent.

Dr. Blau, I'm 18 years old and was wonder if it was possible that my gyno condition will go away as I mature, it doesnt seem too severe but its definately noticable, what do you think?
