    Default hey

Hey Jason Im so glad you won your pro card. I cant wait to see what you do in the future. I dont like many of the builds of the pros these days. I favor the look from the 80's--90's and hate the ginormouse huge blooated belly's. You have an awesome build. I like the small waist. Please dont make your gut get huge over the next 5 years from organ growth or whatever causes that.........lol. I think you will do some serious damage next year.

I had a question about how your precontest diet was. Especially since you tried keto and this time you kept the carbs in. Im curious to know how you dieted this time. Did you start out like a 30p/60c/10f ratio and then start dropping carbs and increasing protein or did you incorporated higher fat in the diet and with the carbs in? What kind of ratio did you do this time?

    thanks

Congratulations on the win. I don't have any questions off the top of my head at the moment. But you definetly have IT. It's refreshing to see someone go pro with such a great structure and small waist. Looking forward to following your career.

Jason how does this diet look for someone 210 and dieting. My training is high volume with 20 + sets per body part and I am doing 60 minutes of cardio on treadmil every morning at 3.5 mph and a 6.0 incline. My protein is around 350 g and my carbs are about 150 per day. I am just trying to get lean, not compete at the moment.

    Meal 1.) 50 g whey Isolate/ 1 packet oatmeal
    Meal 2.) 8 oz. chicken/ 1 cup vegetables
    Meal 3.) 8 oz. top round/ 1 cup vegetables
    Meal 4.) Pre-workout 50 g whey Isolate 1 packet oats
    Meal 5.) post workout 50 g whey Isolate/ 2 packets oatmeal
    Meal 6.) 8 oz. chicken/ 1 cup vegetables

Jason this is absolutely awesome!!! Your own Q and A!

My question.... Since you do so much volume do you focus on getting stronger at all? I'm just curious as to how you gauge your growth? I've been training DC style which is very low volume, but focuses on adding poundage every time. I can't figure out how people can have progression on such high volume routines. I want to give it a shot, but don't want to lose progress. Thanks for any insight on this!!! YOU ROCK!

    Jason,

Congrats on your win. You looked great.

I have a question about your training style. I watched your videos on MD and noticed that you usually don't use a full range of motion. You mentioned you do that to keep your joints healthy and because it works for you. Do you recommend the same to a medium-level lifter as well? Or is it something reserved for advanced bodybuilders who have attained a great level of muscle mass?

Also, I wanted to ask you about the power laterals you did in the video. Do you tag them along at the end of your regular lateral raises or do them as a stand-alone exercise?

    Thanks,
    Gaz

thank your for the love bro! as for my diet this time i around i carb cycled through out the entire diet and no 2 weeks were ever the same. fats were kept very low the entire diet though. the ratio ranged from 50p/40c/10f to 60p/30c/10f to 70p/20/10f . by doing this i kept my body guessing and metabalism racing. i also implement once a week high carb days . as for my waist i will do my best to keep it in check bro lol!!

    Hey Jason,
i had a question about rest periods during my training
In an offseason type setting i usually set up my workout around compound movements and finish off with 1 or 2 isolation movements. How long would you recommend i rest between the sets of heavy compound movements and the lighter isolation exercises at the end.

well in my offseason i never really shoot for a weight i shoot for a look.
as far as calorie intake, it will very and change through out the offseason program ranging from days of 3500 cals to days with maybe 7000 cals.
as for my ratio it will also change regulary and range between 40p/60c/10f to 70p/20c/10f

well the diet looks great but none of the diet or training style matter untill you know your BMI. once you figure that out, then you can put togethor a more pinpointed plan as far as diet to cardio to weights program

oh bro dont think because i do high volume i dont go heavy! DC can be a very good tool in the bag when you need to change up your training but i dont feel it is somthing you do day in and day out. Any experienced lifter knows that not all days in the gym are the same, depending just on how depleted they maybe to how much sleep they may have had. Every set i do i ALWAYS increase weight with typcialy the last set being some kind of drop set.. I train heavy high volume!! you might think how can you do that? well its somthing in the offseason that i actually build up week after week, it takes time. and you can be sure that my strength in the begining of the workout is deff not the same towards the end. no matter how weak i get towards the end of a workout i still go as heavy as possible and always to failure every set.

as for my range of motion i keep the tension on the muscle the entire set every set, with maybe a few reps of full range. i know it maybe confusing but you must understand that rep range is a matter of figuring out what works for you, its somthing i am still learning everyday! Everyday that i train i am constantly intune with how i feel the muscle being used, how the joints are being effected and what secondary muscle are being used. no way in hell do i ever pick up any weight and just move it around EVER! every angle and range of motion is calculated to the T. i am an instinctive trainer , I kind of like to think i have no style of training because every workout is different and i am constantly learning new things everyday. No matter what leve lifter you are its always a matter of what is working for you that day! as for my power partials i like tagging those in following my regular laterals.

that is a matter of simply how you feel. in my offseason between sets i can go from 1 min to 5 min lol. it all depends on how crazy i get with the weight i am pushing, sleep i have had to meals i have had, theres just so many variables bro its somthing you have to learn and work at for your self.. lifting is like customizing your ride, know 2 rides are alike right? bodybuilding is a matter of self exploration. When in contest traing though i like to keep it 30 sec to 1 min between sets to keep my heart rate up and fat burning going!

Now that ur gonna be working with hany ive heard he is a big believer in a ton of food ive been working with george farrah and i think they both believe in massive amounts of food with similar theories.

R u still gonna be taking advice from art atwood now or u gonna follow hanys approach 100% regarding diet and training?

And you got to tell me bro whats ur secret of puting on some muscle in one year that is damn impressive bro ? lol
