NPC BODYBUILDER JOE BAGLIO DIED!
NPC BODYBUILDER and recent Heart Transplant recipient, Joe Baglio (from Staten Island, NY) died over the weekend. After receiving a heart transplant due to a acute cardiomyopathy, Joe began training and successfully competed at the 2007 NPC EASTERN USA; placing 5th in the Masters Class. Joe was ecstatic at his monumental achievement.
Because of Joe's great willpower and indominable will, Met-Rx's Frank Sepe did a story on Joe in the new MET-RX MAGAZINE. Frank also flew Joe out to COLUMBUS, OH to work the MET-RX BOOTH at the ARNOLD CLASSIC EXPO. Joe was extremely happy and excited to be realizing his dream of being an acknowledged bodybuilder.
However, once in Columbus, Joe started feeling sick and after rushing to the hospital, he wound up passing away due to a complication with his gall bladder. The final autopsy results are still pending.
I was lucky enough to know Joe and I have to say that he was one of the most genuine guys I've ever met. R.I.P. JOE BAGLIO!!

Wow... what a shame...
This is becoming too common in our culture... Wish his family the best for us won't you Dave?
Anyone taking donations for his family? Any loved ones he is survived by?

Very sorry to hear this.
I am hearing about excessive heart growth an awful lot lately with bodybuilders, it seems. I hope all the guys that are staying on large amounts of AAS year-round or close to it will get themselves checked out and reconsider what they are doing if anything comes up abnormal.
None of that was meant to disrespect the late Mr. Baglio, as I have no idea what he may or may not have been doing. I'm just saying, put your health and longevity first, guys. Unless you are going to make a living (a decent living) as a bodybuilder, it's definitely not worth taking any serious health risks for.

Thats sad, but i always look for the 'silver lining' because i have a saying i live by which is, "every positive has a negative.....and every negative has a positive".
He died doing what he loved and he got to live out a dream before he passed, thats a pleasure many do not get to experience before they pass on. Hopefully people will focus more on who Joe was and the family he has left behind that what he took.
RIP.

Staten Island bodybuilder Joseph Baglio was scheduled to work at the Met-Rx booth at the recent Arnold Expo. He was also planning to stop by the Iron Age Legends Dinner to wish his friend Leon Brown a happy birthday. Joseph never made it. On Thursday, March 1, while attending the Legends Dinner Leon Brown received a distressful call from Joseph, who said he had pain throughout his entire upper body. Three years earlier Joseph had underwent a heart transplant as a result of following the wrong path towards competitive bodybuilding and now was on the comeback trail. As recently as this past November Joseph was back on the physique stage (see photo) and his future began to take new hope. But it was not to be. Immediately after the phone call Leon left the Legends Dinner to rush Joseph to the local hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where he stayed by Joseph’s side until he was admitted at 3:30AM. The next day while the Arnold Expo was in full swing, Joseph was undergoing emergency surgery. It’s still unclear what procedure he received in the OR, but Joseph remained in intensive care afterwards, never regaining full consciousness. On Thursday, March 8, one week after Joseph Baglio call his friend Leon Brown for help, the 40 year old bodybuilder passed away due to heart complications. At his funeral he was remembered as a friend to many, a loving husband to his wife Kathy, and as an athlete who gave it his all.
