Dave, you looked great in your competitive years. Looking back, what do you think kept you from taking a pro card? What was the feedback from promoters and judges? I ask you because you seemed to have a very complete physique and certainly didnt lack the mental attitude as shown in the movies produced by Mike

Towards the end of my career I had stopped asking the judges for feedback because the few times I had done that in the past, they had given me what I considered generic, watered down feedback that seemed kind of like a pre recorded message they use for any competitor who asks for feedback. I mean, really, can you blame them? They look at 400 bodies onstage and then , at the end of the day, when they're exhausted, they're asked to remember the minutia of your physique out of the hundreds they just saw. Do you really think they remember!? If you do, then you think you're way more important in the universe than you really are! lol!

So, I would just analyze my own physique, and go from there. I have no problem admitting my structural and developmental weaknesses. Narrow shoulder to waist ratio, and arms that weren't quite up to the rest of the physique. At the end of the day, in each pro qualifier i lost, I guess it was simply a matter of judges preference. If you participate in this subjective sport, you agree to abide by the decision of these judges, and that I did.

I never saw you compete on stage but from what you describe you lost those pro qualifiers to the "pretty" or aesthetically-pleasing physiques with better shoulder to waist ratio and bigger arms. I see that happens all the time, and no matter how shredded and muscular you show up, you are doomed in that situation as a competitor.
Glad things turned out for the best in your life though!
