  • Should Carlos go 212 or open?

Spoke with new Nationals supers & overall champ Carlos Thomas Jr yesterday.

He told me he weighed in at bang on 100kg...so 220lbs.

Now he’s pro, what do you think he should go for...212 or open please chaps?

I think he was fibbing. Why would someone who weighed 220 compete in the supers which is 225.5? I'd rather risk the heavy than lining up with Nate

Supers is 220lbs and up mate.

He told me he weighed in at 220, but likely 225 by the time he hit the stage, if memory serves. (I only interviewed him yesterday ha ha)

Chris is correct 225 is cutoff for supers
it doesn’t make sense if he was 220 and allowed in supers

            Also kid is growing fast
Wasn’t he middle wt 1-2 years ago ??
If he takes some time in the offseason and grow some more why do 212
His height is not an issue

In the UK supers are over 100kg/220lbs.

Watch the interview in Global Muscle out on Wednesday mate.

Will need to be sharper for the pros though. Easily shave 10lbs off that look last weekend and squeeze down into the 212 for the first year.

Or, bring the back up, and sort the condition out further and see how he does as an open.

Hadi I’m guessing wasn’t far over 215-218lbs at this last Olympia, he’s doing great.

                    He's a super

But I think he could have been lighter.

I say 212 just to see how it goes

He needs to work on his bdb and abbs/thigh

Apart from that, he has amazing structure and muscle bellies

He is going to have to bring his back up to be a top 212 or open guy but this dude is LEGIT and has all the tools to be good

                        Who cares where he compete?

He should focus on improving his back and the condition, but he will be difficult, he has the same problem as Akim but he also is lighter.

Yes, but take Clarida as example. Has won and can win the 212 Olympia, but open? Would he crack top 6? Top 10 even?

The Olympia is always the end game.

His legs remind me of John Sherman’s Mikey.

I thought Nate Spear could possibly go 212 as a pro too. Turns out he’s in the mid 240’s!!!! So taller & heavier than I estimated.

Joel Thomas was another I mistook for his dimensions. He looked about 5’10” and 260-270 to me? Nope. 5’7” and around 225.
