Samson has always weighed too high on the scale compared to what he appears on stage. His bones must weigh a lot.

Ruhl, Jay and Paco Bautista were at or under 280 pounds. Ramy was under 300 pounds in the NYP.

      So Samson is 6’1”, Giles?

What Beti is saying about Samson vs Ruhl etc.- this is kinda where I’m lost. Samson has a legitimately very small waistline and stomach, given his overall size. Plus, he has shorter legs than Ronnie, Dorian, Kai etc., which usually makes for a lighter scale weight. It all makes me think hunk that Samson should weigh around 270 on stage, if he was truly in shape.

That's what I thought, Dauda was 5'10" or 5'11". Which makes him the same height as Ronnie, at best. (Ronnie's height is pretty well confirmed at 5'11", I believe.)

I continue to be mystified by that scale weight. I can see it with Ramy, given the sheer size of his legs and frame. I don't get it with Samson. I feel like he could suck down another 20lbs.

I was just discussing this earlier. Even at 287 he will still be round as hell!

The issue that he's going to face eventually -- if he pushes to get fully striated glutes and a hard back, his glutes are already smallish (structurally, and not a ton of tissue there), and his back is already his weak point (getting much better, but his actual lat attachments and meat is not huge) -- so if he bites that bullet, it might make his look worse. It's a tricky one for him. I think Walker is facing the same issue -- his conditioning looks world-beating right now, but it's also making his chest look very weak, from the pics I have seen.

Remember before the Olympia that Weinberger said he wanted to see condition. Nick will bring that and along with his mass and pretty good mandatories, where his blockiness is not as apparent, and he will be had to beat.

Sampson will not be hard enough to take Nick is my guess.

Ramy will be better than the O and bring home 3rd if I was betting.

All just the bullshit musing of a fan of course

I wish everyone in open would throw out their scales for Christ sake. It means nothing. Terrible barometer for progress. It's like when some dodo asks a bodybuilder how much they can bench. It doesn't mean shit onstage.

When someone's weight is shockingly high I have two immediate thoughts - 1) their lying or 2) they are off. 9 times out of 10 one of the two is right.

Absolutely on throwing out the scale. Not only does it promote shitty conditioning, but it says nothing at all about somebody's shapes, lines, muscle attachments -- and THAT is what makes for a look.

I’m sure Samson told me 6 foot tall mate.

Here’s a photo of he and I at my house last year. I’m measured at both 183cm & 185cm, so around 6 foot to 6 foot one. As you can see, he looks same height as me.
