In the short list of things that would make me extremely happy on a daily basis - old school round metal plates rank high.
Guys from older gyms or that have been around for a while can relate. Nothing like the signature sound when walking into the gym like the clang and rattle of round metal plates.
Whether guys used collars or not, inevitably there would be some space where those babies would start banging around and you knew shit was going down. It was like am amplifier for your internal intensity meter.
Regardless if it was topping out on a rep for heavy squats, or the bang at the bottom and then rattle at he top of hard deadlifts, a bar going from chest to extension for bench or the shorter up and down of shrugs - it was like an auditory calling to your hardcore alter ego. Now add in a slight haze of chalk, some loud and hard charging music, and a leg day or back day on the docket and I may be dead and in Heaven.
Good things
