He’d have guys doing guest appearances and seminars in gyms etc. He’d pay expenses for the “big name” guys. He knew what the fans wanted and he gave it to them. He’d make sure the guys did the European tours, it’s all built up the sport and competitors.
Venues, staging and production were always on point. Today some of the top shows are in level seating banquette halls lol.
Love him or hate him, he was great at what he did.www.leighcarmichael.com

I understand both sides of the Wayne Demilia argument and his recent vindictive antics to besmirch bodybuilding are shitty. That said, just from a promotion and spectacle point of view, he was the best.
From a warlord/megalomaniac/dickhead perspective - he was bad for the sport and alienated many of the best pros during that era.
The best thing would be for the powers that be currently to look back and take what worked for Demilia and apply them as best practices but with a more measured management style.

Understood. His approach to promoting a show, choosing a venue, organizing the event, setting up the stage, handling the press conference, and marketing bodybuilding was top notch. Him having any sway over the scoring, judges, etc is unacceptable and should never be tolerated.

Well, Dex also said that Shawn Ray has a 2 inch penis, so I don't know how good is he with scoring.
Anyway, Demilla and the Weider Bros made the IFBB what it was at its peak, so the declining quality of the competitors and shows reflects the weaknesses of the current federations.
