Just as the Mr. Olympia contest has featured several men who dominated the event for a series of years, the Ms. Olympia has also had a few women who kept an iron grip on the title and created dynasties. In the 1980s and into the early 1990s, Cory Everson earned six Ms. Olympia titles. Her successor Lenda Murray would garner eight, and the winningest Ms. Olympia thus far has been Iris Kyle with a staggering 10 Ms. Olympia wins. Ever since Jake Wood brought the Ms. Olympia back in 2020, the woman on this month’s cover, Andrea Shaw, has won the contest every year and is preparing for what she hopes will be her fourth win in November in Orlando. And in the tradition of some of the greatest bodybuilding champions the sport has known, Andrea has a vision to make history at Olympia Weekend and forge a dynasty of her own.
“I really do want 11 Ms. Olympia titles. I mean, why not?” Andrea tells MD’s Ron Harris this month. In “Andrea Shaw:3X Ms. Olympia Wants an 11-Win Dynasty!”, the Mutant athlete discusses her game plan and her ultimate goal to beat the all-time record and win the Ms. Olympia 11 times.
Classic Physique has soared in popularity with fans in recent years, with four-time Classic Physique Olympia champion Chris Bumstead becoming a bodybuilding superstar with 18 million followers on Instagram. Bumstead plans to defend his title at this year’s Olympia Weekend, but some industry experts think that László Király, Hungary’s top Classic pro, has what it takes to beat the reigning champ – or give him a run for his money. “László has everything to be in that top five at the Olympia,” his coach, Patrick Tuor, tells MD. “And I feel like his structure is superior to ANY current Classic bodybuilder who is competing at the Olympia right now!” Read what the experts say about the man who is “Hungary” for a win in “László Király Gunning for the Olympia.”
Too many bodybuilders have died prematurely as a result of decisions they made in their bodybuilding careers and failing to heed warnings that probably could have kept a good portion of them alive. By being proactive and monitoring your health, you can easily catch most problems before they become life-threatening. Ron Harris offers advice on how to make your health a priority in “Bodybuilding for Life!6 Keys to Your Longevity in the Iron Game.”
When a massive, bearded man named Josef Květoň strode onstage for the first callout at the 2023 New York Pro, it seemed likely he would do very well despite being a complete unknown who the judges had never seen before. At 275 pounds of rugged mass yet still sporting a narrow waist and tight midsection, Josef’s conditioning was also spot-on, and he placed third behind winner Tonio Burton and runner-up Stuart “Beef Stu” Sutherland. What does it take to be a Mr. Olympia champion? Mamdouh Elssbiay, aka Big Ramy, has won the Sandow twice. In an exclusive interview this month, Big Ramy states, “The champion must have an iron mindset – no one can break you, not even time!” The two-time Mr. Olympia’s career trajectory is charted from his humble beginnings to his most recent role as Brand Ambassador of the longest-lived Italian company in the world of fitness and bodybuilding, Panatta.
