They ALL train to win but in a subjective sport, you cant guarantee a win.

How would you do that anyway? I never understood the concept of guaranteeing a win. "I guarantee I will win or else.....I.....won't I guess". It just makes the person look foolish.

Of course everyone always touts the old Joe Namath guarantee. And it is nice, because he ended up winning. But if it didn't go his way, history would have people saying remember when that jackass Namath tried to guarantee a win?

Point being -- and always being -- talk is talk, and only talk. Talk can go your way or bite you in the ass. It has zero bearing on facts. Truly old school (samurai culture), talk was fully left at the door. Again, modern era, we live in a fantasy world -- and in our heads -- more than we live in the real world, so people like Walker have been brainwashed into believing they can "speak it into existence".

In general, in no sport victory can be guaranteed, or else athletes would not bother competing. What makes a sport entertaining is the contenders have similar chances for winning. That doesn't stop from having dominant athletes with a higher chances for win, but they aren't invincible either.

Ironically, new-age philosophies -- positive thinking -- psychology -- and religion -- pretty much are all the same thing, reinforcement of a fantasy with very little reference to reality. Modern psych theory makes the strongest attempt at "being scientific", by at least trying to quantify statistical correlations. But there's still virtually no causal mechanisms established underlying psychology.

Interesting book if you want to check it out, "How The Brain Lost Its Mind" by Allan Hopper -- how modern psychology has divorced "mind issues" from the physical brain.
