  • Netflix documentary - Untold: Hall of Shame

Low value documentary for people like us who know the reality of elite sport

The Balco case was inflated too much by the corporate media because that is what it touched on, just as in other times it touches terrorism, racism, or whatever. The reality is that these journalists and anyone with half a brain must be able to understand that current sports performances are not possible without PEDs, and that is why the American major leagues dont have drug test in association with AMA-WADA, but they have internal controls, you can already imagine the joke that is.

Nothing changed after Balco, everyone continues to dope.

Regarding the characters that appear, Victor, Tim and the agent
who analyzed the garbage whose life mission seems to be to clean the sport of cheaters... they all seemed to me the same type of lamentable subjects.

It would have been more than interesting to have the interventions of the mind, Milos Sarcev, and the chemist, Patrick Arnold.

Balco scandal made Victor Conte richer and more famous than he would ever have been without the stupid cream and clear storylines. He was grinning to the bank (in the Caymans and Switzerland)

The guy got rich because his drugged athletes advertised ZMA on their jerseys instead of Nike. Had ZMA at Weider, Twinlab and a couple of other companies.

Big Pharma and the sports companies that sponsor Olympians, for different reasons, didn't like this deal.

A federal agent frustrated by his failure to be an NBA star, the media and politicians helped make a snowball where there was hardly anything.

Baseball was amazing during that era!!!

The year Mark McGuire set the home run record, I saw him hit the LONGEST home run ever at the Indians stadium. It hit the fucking scoreboard! I know people hate Bonds but I love the guy. He was HOF before Balco.

I dont think there is much doping in MLB anymore, but in the NFL, come on man!

In baseball there are no more records, so they decided to control the use of substances and for the public to get used to the absence of more records.

In the NFL I suppose it is not necessary to increase the doses and compounds at this point either, and from time to time someone gets caught for smoking weed, lol

When I trained at World Gym in Scottsdale in 91 and 92 the As had their spring training there and would come in. I told you about doing seated cables with Reggie who was their batting coach, but Canseco was already gassed up. At that time, McGuire was not. He was a tall skinny pastey carrot top that was always standing off to the side. In his last years there and definitely when he got to St Louis it was obvious he had gotten locked and loaded. He looked like a different person

He was already a monster slugger and hitting prodigy but couldn't handle gassed Jose getting the headlines for his HR race with Big Cecil Fielder at the time.

This is similar to Barry. Pre anabolics he was already a sure fire hall of famer and was on a similar trajectory as Griffey Jr. But when ARod decided being a fast car wasn't enough and he went Top Fuel Dragster smacking the ball out left and right, Barry said I don't think so. And him geared up resulted in the most prolific and feared hitter ever. Not even close. Intentionally walking the dude with bases loaded.

I saw A Rod take BP on the field in Cleveland once. OMG, such a beautiful swing. He was a 5 toolk guy before PEDs. If Griffey stayed healthy, he would have had 800 HRS

Griffey and Will Clark are the two most beautiful swings I have ever seen in baseball.

Then you had guys like Mo Vaughn swinging like it was a Billy club and Jeff Bagwell with his wife stance swinging like it was a samurai sword

I have never been into baseball. But watching this documentary, the most interesting scene, to me, was when they showed McGuire smashing home runs- and seeing how excited and engaged the audience was. We have these government cronies on one side lamenting “how awful it is that these guys are doing this and cheating”- then cut to the audience, every single person having the time of their lives.

From a non-fan looking in, it looks like steroids made baseball exciting- to pretty much the entire fanbase. Good thing we have government telling us it isn’t right to be excited and enjoy entertainment at the highest level possible.
