It's like that with PEDs and athletes, but it's like that with all walks of life.

On last week's Bro Chat they had a really good convo about "genetics" -- and "how to get to the top" -- with Iain finally just belting out, "The hard thing for people to really accept, we are NOT all created equal -- we're not created equal at ALL. You could train with the top coach in the world for a decade straight, eat all the right food, do everything right, and Usain Bolt is still going to come out the next day, half hungover, and smoke you and make you look like a fool -- because he was built for this. Usain Bolt's pattern won't work for you -- because Usain Bolt is 1 of 1, truly unique. The same for Chris Bumstead -- you can weigh the same as him, and be shredded, and you're still not going to look like him".

Into old age, people have a really hard time accepting this reality -- yes there are best practices that move you in the direction of an Amstrong, Bolt, Bumstead -- but you will never be on their level unless you were born to be on that level, nothing you do will change that.

PEDs don't make champions. Genetic propensities, coupled with proper work ethic, makes champions -- and then, PEDs allow them to get that extra bit (for recovery or whatever -- in BBing, added size, but if that added size isn't distributed correctly and looks like shit, it kinda' doesn't matter; plenty of big guys out there who are NOT winning the Olympia).

I understand, according to all his colleagues he was a very abusive, unpleasant person, etc... That's why they reported him, he never tested positive.

Absolutely. He threw people under the bus, betrayed people, and took a combative and adversarial approach to dealing with his doping vs the quiet denials and playing nice with the media and powers that be.

He was not a pleasant person or a "good" person by any means

He had so much power that he believed himself untouchable. Of course, those who ratted him out tested positive and were banned, and they were jealous of his success.
