Aging myself here but when I got into this 25 years ago in Australia, there was men’s/women’s bodybuilding and fitness.
Many years went by where no Pro Cards were given out.
Even national winners had to apply or first represent Australia internationals.
Only by placing well overseas could they finally get their card.

No pro card should be given away at the Jr USA or Jr Nationals

I think in the 1980's the only US competition where class winners got pro cards was the nationals.

I think before that they had to win the amateur IFBB universe (before it changed name the world championships) to get a pro card.

Even after winning their pro card competitors still had to make an application to get their card and that didn't always get it.

Correct. If fact, you should have to be top 3 at these shows to qualify to compete at NA, nationals, or usas

So be it. I am happy to drop those folks from fake relevance and validation

And amateur athletes around the world accepted that things worked that way.

Even now, after having increased the chances of winning the pro card in the rest of the world, many more cards are given out in the US.

It may make sense that in the US they distribute more pro cards because they have a very widespread circuit of competitions at the amateur level, and BB developed there, but the proportion has always been far from balanced.

The president of the national federation decided whether to process your pro card or not. They often kept you as an amateur so that you would belong to them.

Some, like Badell, moved to another country where they would receive better treatment that would allow them to be pro.
