I was thinking about making a meathead road trip and heading to SW Ohio to visit some old gyms still in business when I lived there 30 years ago.
The World Gym about 15 miles NW of Cinn was still going strong in the same location. Cool .I checked it out .
I was soon bummed out to learn that long time owner Ken Reynolds passed away in 2020 .
He was 74 , so he wasn't some young guy and his longtime wife Ruth is still alive . Granted I'm getting older having recently hit 65 , but too many old bodybuilding bros have dropped in the last 10 years.
Most gyms and contests come and go along with the bodybuilders I've known over the years.
Think about it . The original Golds gym of Pumping Iron fame stopped being a gym within a couple years after filming. With the exception of the Olympia and Arnold, most pro contests don't last long .
I dunno , but it seems like the entire bodybuilding culture lacks stability and longevity.
Your thoughts?
