Seems like odd timing too. It makes me think something happened or an issue arose that made the urgency of the decision greater. 9 weeks out of the Olympia, it would seem most people would crush the remaining prep and then step away after the final show. The timing, coupled with the commentary on CBums latest vid makes it seem like something traumatic was being dealt with.
At any rate, good for Iain and best wishes to him. For some reason I could see him opening his own gym that becomes known as a go-to place for hardcore dudes

An athlete overrated by the judges, but he is a guy who always speaks clearly and is frank, and that is more important right now. He was not going to climb any further positions since he has maximized all of his potential and has hit the wall of genetics. He has also seen that much better guys are arriving.
In a way it surprises me because he has always been very passionate and driven, but who knows what caused this decision and at this time.http://betionastore.es/

No idea nor speculation as to why the decision.
Just gonna' say, Iain has always struck me as one of the more self-aware pros out there. Melissa walked away a while ago. They seem to live a really great and full life, and props to him for walking away at a time like this (meaning, writing is on the wall, he's not moving up the ranks).
Guessing Hollingshead is next. Also very self-aware, and has been clearly fighting some inner battle with himself for a while now, wanting to push to achieve his final form, also realizing that there's more to life than BBing and his pursuits here are limiting his development in other arenas.
I will always love top-level BBing, but I love it even more when these cats put in their time and get out with their health.

Nathan said he would compete for a couple of years and retire.
Some athletes love to compete regardless of placing well or not, but there are others who have tried everything humanly possible and no longer progress from year to year, they even regress. They have nothing to prove and competing just to compete is not enough for them.http://betionastore.es/
