I thought this little snippet on YouTube was very telling. If it is old or well known, forgive me.

He always looks impressive in clips and pics that are not onstage. He is the master of doing these dramatic walk-ups to the camera in gym footage and then hitting a double bicep or most muscular.

He may make it back to the Mr Olympia at some point but he will never be in the top 10. His window was the last 3 years and he allowed his personal drama to detail that. I do like his post competition meltdowns though. With Iain retired we will now have to rely on Sergio and Martin for that stuff

Nick has his own subdued style of melting down. Planning on seeing a great version of it after this year’s O.

I was never a fan of Sergio’s physique, always found it to be rather meh.

He is working with Neil Hill now.

I think his ship has sailed.

Changing coaches at this stage of your career, and this age -- not saying it has to be, but I tend to see that as a "cry for desperation". Kinda' like Iain did this year, and we saw how that panned out. Hollingshead doing the same, and I personally think Hollingshead already has one foot out the door and is getting ready to retire (guessing after next year). Sergio will never "officially retire" because he's too vested in the social media game, but for all practical purposes, yes, I think his ship has sailed. Even if he made massive improvements somehow at this stage of his career, the new crop is just better than he has the potential to be.

Dude went to the Middle East to transform "Brandon-style" but essentially came back looking like he was just over there visiting a friend

Reality is dude went to the Middle East because he’s a problem child and was kinda running away from problems - “real life” - call it what you want. But hoping a change of venue would somehow magically change everything, and it did not. Still seems to be something of a drama magnet. If you really want “transform Brandon style”, take yourself off the grid and off social media, go into hiding- the drama is brought on 100% by yourself and your need to be visible and heard. No drama to be found when one shuts their mouth and quietly does the work.

That’s why I’m glad Krizo finally learned a stays away from keyboard drama and spends more time in the gym and kitchen and only posts necessary stuff for sponsors.

You are laying down the gospel my friend. The "lock yourself in the cellar and grind" approach is just my game. Love it love it love it. ZERO CHANCE Sergio could or would ever do that. His window is not only closed but nailed shut.

You can psychoanalyze that approach (staying quiet) in a variety of ways. But simple route, when you don’t talk, you don’t create expectations. Underpromise and over deliver, always. When you flap your gums, it creates expectations in other people’s minds, whether that’s “fair” or not, that’s just how life works.

We could deviate towards the promises of politicians and in other fields, but in bodybuilding, how many of those who promised to bring their best package lived up to the expectation? Very few.

On the other hand, how many didn't open their mouths and surprise the world?

If you promise and deliver, everyone says OK

If you promise and don't keep it, everyone says WTF

If you don't promise and surprise, everyone says WOW
