      My trainer agrees with you.....

But you knew that didn't you

Now back to the drawing board with only a couple days to go and work riding my a$$ like there is no tomorrow.

I've only gotten 3 hours of sleep each night this week because of work taking up 15 hours of my day and still needing to get training in, staining, cardio, blah, blah, blah

Don't want to lose this thing because I put on a bad show

Best advice I can give u is, go on youtube and watch some frank zane and ed corney videos. Watch their transitions and how fluid there posing is, it might help.

          Flexington,

Trust me I've been watching YouTube videos and videos on various bodybuilding sites of recent shows. I'm such an uncoordinated goof (as made evident in my video), that I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to move with smooth transitions.

There is a reason I don't go dancing I knew this would be the hardest thing for me. The diet was easy compared to trying to come up with a routine that doesn't make me look the fool

            • Grump: Actually good work on your routine, but your routine is very long. I would shorten it up a bit.

People want the show to move along. And non one wants to see a 140lb guest poser. No offense.

I would not walk all around the stage hitting shots. I would stay in the middle, hit some shots and smile.

You really need to smile when you hit some of them atleast. Your poses are pretty good though but just don't do them just to do them just to fill time. Im sure you timed it and all and want to maximize your time, but my advise is keep it short and to the point.

You want to hit shots that show your strengths. For me, i hit most muscular shots and shots that really show my deep cuts in my legs, and shots from the back, those are my strengths.

You have to look at your strengths, and when you pose, show them and avoid shots that show your weaknesses.

              • Alex,

The IFBB pro that has been helping me get into contest shape was telling me that I should cut it down from 90 seconds to 30 seconds. He said that even though he is allowed 2 minutes in the pros he only goes a minute.

Also, gave me the same advice about not walking around the stage and told me to not under any circumstances do the whole, "Can I get some applause thing".

My weakness is going to be the transitions, but I guess if I stay tight to one place on the stage I can pull something off.

I'm somewhat of an analytical person so I had to have this thing memorized and timed out. Spontaneity is not a strength of mine.

Do you think 60 seconds is still too long or should I go somewhere around 45 seconds?

I would say that 60 seconds is perfect. No less, a little more is fine but 30 seconds. im not sure what thats all about, that would be like hitting 2 poses. I would just get out there, hit about a minutes worth of shots, smile and be done. The important part is what happens in the morning.

                  • Alex,

I just wanted to let you know that this is very helpful. I'm going to see if I can cut my song down to 60 seconds, then keep my routine pretty much intact but with no moving around the stage and bang out some good poses.

I'm probably going to swap out a couple of those shots but those are pretty much my strong shots (in my opinion).

WIth 30 seconds cut out, that really allows one to get those poses in a more bang-bang-bang succession.

My wife has been hounding me about the smiling, but she also points out that I don't smile much in reality and when I do it looks "goofy".

                    • yep dude, just take everyones advice and meld is together and thats about what u should be doing.

But what alex said about not walking around is perfect, i was thinking the same thing. it looks really gay bro. I hate when guys do that.

And yea dont do the hand clapping thing, thats gay as fuck as well.

And hit the poses and hit them hard, it looks so stupid when guys do like a million poses in a minute. Do what u look best in, hit those poses, hit them hard and perfectly.

Well looking gay is the thing I'm most afraid of having happen. So, lets see if I can avoid that at all cost.

                              • It wont be long till we can see Flexingtonsteele up there "guest posing" clapping and hamming it up.

Naahh man Because im in his corner and he knows better...plus im going to be at the show to yell at him.." Smile you son of a bitch".

I go to 12 shows a year here in Calif. thats on average one per month. And I tell you, I have seen allot of bodybuilding routines.

And the hand clapping, guest posing, lip sinking b.s is hillarious. I mean its embarrassing for me to watch. I sometimes think to myself....."what the hell am i doing here?" im into this sport..this is sad.

What you want to do, is hit some hard shots, and smile occasionally. Not the "perma smile" but occasionally smile to look like your having fun.

My first two shows, i did not smile but once. and that was when they were handing me my first place trophies. I kicked ass but didnt smile on stage and i dont have a picture were i look like im having fun. Its very common to have this happen.

For me it was very hard to learn to smile. I have an extensive martial arts background and competed in karate tournaments from the time i was 12 till i was 22. I have twice as many karate trophies than bodybuilding. I became a sensei at a very young age and competed often.

And in Martial arts competition you dont smile.. but bodybuilding is way different.

You seem to have things going good with your wife in your corner to help you. Just tone down your routine to one minute and your poses are very good. So just shorten it up as we talked about.
