max ot cardio is a form of high intensity cardio.
better to use low intensity/long duration for most of the prep and high intensity for last action. IMHO

Busting through a fat loss plateau is really all about manipulating both your carbs and cardio. When cardio stops yielding results, then you tweak the carbs a bit, when that slows you go back to tweaking cardio. Ideally you eat as many carbs as you can while using cardio to lose fat. The methodology you employ is individualistic. I much prefer low intensity cardio first thing in the morning or PWO. There are those who advocate HIIT but I don't happen to be one of them. Whatever works through experimentation is what you should stick with.

I'm with him...it all depends on how you manipulate diet and cardio together. I've done HIIT cardio but I was eating to much at the time and my weight wasn't dropping...my cardio was off the chain though.

when the metabolism is slowing due to low calories i thought maybe hiit or max ot cardio will give a good metabolic disturbance keep the metabolism fired up

            here is my cardio/training split

            Monday-afternoon cardio 1 hr
            - Legs, abs, 45mins cardio

            Tuesday-afternoon cardio 1 hr
            -shoulders, 45 mins cardio

Wednesday- HIIT 5 min warmup then 7 cycles of 90 second blast with 30 second slow

            Thursday- afterdoon cardio 1 hr
            -back, abs, calves, 45mins cardio

            Friday- afternoon cardio 1hr
            -chest, 45mins cardio

Saturday- arms, abs, calves, HIIT 5 min warmup them 7 cycles of 90 second blast with 30 second slow

            Sunday-OFF

as you can see i use HIIT 2x per week...i didn't actually start using it until i got under 7%bf. i saw a big difference in fat loss after i started using it. and thus far have not lost muscle mainly because I do it for a pretty short period of time.... in the beginning i think everybody should keep their calories as high as possible and burn fat with cardio...once the cals get too low and your cardio is still high you start to go insane...im on my last few weeks of a "mock prep" and my calories are down at around 1425 per day. talk about feeling like shit.

it sounds good in theory but your calories are still low, so you run the risk of burning off your muscle

I know...my God, below 1500? I hope you at least have refeeds every 2-3 days or a weekly cheat/carb meal...
