Cormudgen, I commend you for coming on here...posting your pics and diet and leaving it open for what we all hope is constructive criticism from the other members of this board…and kudos to Ss and others for taking the time to provide true and sound advice that you could apply right away. It is great to see that you took Ss’s diet advice seriously, implemented it, have definitely benefitted, and will seemingly continue to benefit from it. I think you are headed in the right direction, with a willingness to learn, which keeps people motivated to provide valuable advice!
If I were to add one piece of advice, it would be to continue practicing your posing. When you do choose to do a show, sometimes the comparisons can last quite awhile and it can be truly exhausting, especially after 16 weeks of dieting. Not only is it good to have the mandatory poses perfected (getting help from an experienced competitor can definitely help find your personal “sweet” spots for each pose), but also to make it appear as though they are effortless for you. This goes a long way for stage presence. If somebody appears that they are straining during every pose it can negatively affect the judge’s perception of you and can be very distracting. Although, it is truly hard to tell exactly how your posing is from a still pic, I would suggest that you continue to practice posing as much as possible, holding them for a longer duration all while maintaining a natural look/smile on your face and limiting any shakiness that you may have. This will help you tremendously in presenting your physique to the highest degree. Being prepared will go a long way in your first competition! Speaking from experience, I was absolutely shocked at how exhausted and unprepared I was at my first show when it came to presenting myself. Practice, practice, practice...then the posing will just come naturally when you are onstage.
Keep it up!!

Well I'm completely finished! Yesterday was my fake contest date. It felt good to meet a goal and it was amazing to compare the pictures of my progress from day 1 to week 8. I mus say that I learned a LOT. I think I ended up dropping too much lean muscle all together but it was important to prove to myself that I can obtain this kind of conditioning. Goal now is to maintain a more lean "off season" so that my cardio regimen won't have to be so much next time. I also think I will start the diet at 10-12 weeks in order to attempt to lose the fat more slowly while maintiaing as much muscle as possible.
One of my neighbors enjoys photography as a hobby and has access to a studio with great lighting for free. I went ahead and took advantage of this, went through the whole Shaving/Protan/water depletion process. I know it wasn't nescesary, but I learned from it as well so am glad I did it.
Keep in mind the original pictures I posted in this thread are from only three weeks ago and there is a major change, the change from 8 weeks ago is even more incredible.
Looking forward to eating less strict again. Here are some pictures, feed back is appreciated.Attached Files- 1standingrelaxed (Large).jpg (13.2 KB, 26 views)
