sorry, this is pissing me off. it's not my thread, but i have to say something. i really wish everyone would quit fucking with this guy by saying he's behind, or anything else like that. he's so close to the show and is doing everything possible that anything negative right now is NOT GOING TO HELP HIM! this is exactly why i am not starting a thread with my own ongoing prep. he has a few weeks to go, has a hell of a guy in his corner helping him, so cut the guy some slack and let him learn all he can from his first prep. the final weeks are stressful enough without us telling him he's still behind. he knows that already.

with that being said, keep pushing brother! a lot of us are excited for you and anxious to see how you look for your show!

        • Matt is working hard I can assure you that. He knows he started late and that he is behind. What is going to do? As his prep coach I am not going to sacrifice his health to getting him into shape for his first show. He's going to go in there in the best shape of HIS life and he's going to enjoy the day and we're going to take it from there. The boys got a lot of heart and hopefully he continues with the sport after his first show and understands that he may not do as wella s he wants, but he sure as hell is going to learn a lot about himself, the sport, and improve himself as a person in general.

          • I appreciate your comments Johngorman. I will admit When I first started this thread I did get down by all the negative comments, but again it also light a fire up my ass to get stuff going. Then HOSS stepped in and has given me great advice and now I think I am not far off. Yes I will be coming into the show in the best shape of my life and however I do I do, it is my first show and i have learned so much already about my body and stuff, I am already planning on doing the show in October in Lakewood. I have be working my ass off everyday, my gf can atest to that!! After this show I am going to get on an offseason plan and then get my precontest in order for the october show. You never know what can happen, I might come in and lay the smack down lol!!

the were not negative comments man, they were constructive criticism !
you don't want people telling you you are in shape when you are not, you don't need those people.

you need people who tell you the truth so you can make the necessary changes to your training and diet.

good job anyway ! looking good in those last shots

Yep this is bodybuilding not bingo....we all need constructive criticism to keep us honest, it made you work, so you are better off for it.

It sure is alot of time...With the progress I made from 9 weeks out to 5 weeks out is 360 degrees. If I can make the same progress with this week and the next 3 weeks, which leaves the last week before the contest to rest and recoup I believe I will come into the show looking pretty good.

I understand I took it as that and made it positive, and I am reaping the benefits. I appreciate all who have supported me and gave me criticism I needed it to understand what exactly I was doing. I am just glad HOSS jumped in and got my diet on track in order for me to progress as much as I did. If i keep the pace I have I think I will come into the show pretty good.

                      • How do you find out how much LBM you have and approx how much fat lbs you have?

You'll have to have some sort of bodyfat analysis done. The most popular and convenient is a skinfold caliper test where someone pinches your skin, separates it from the muscle in several locations, measures its thickness in mm with a lobster claw looking toy, and then a formula spits out your lean mass (it's important to remember that this includes everything in your body that is not fat--bone, blood, water, etc.) and fat lbs. http://www.linear-software.com/online.html

(other methods include the bodpod, dexa bone density scan, and submersion/displacement testing in a water tank, but these are only available in physiology labs)

take your body fat percentage.. move the decimal place over by two and then multiply that by your bodywieght..

so if your 150 and 10% bodyfat.. u have 15 lbs of bodyfat left on ur body..

to get to say.. 5% u will need to lose roughly 8lbs of FAT exclusively without losing any muscle..

But to be honest.. the only thing that matters is what u look like not wht a caliper says u r..
