I had 1 surgery (Jan08) in my left and 2 surgeries in my right elbow (Feb08) one of them due to epichondilitis (tendon "almost" had to be reattached). I had to wait 10 days after surgeries to move my arms. Then, I started using my arms in my daily activities (shower, brush teeth, eat,...). In 30 days I could lift heavier objects (I work as personal trainer) like 45 pounds plates. And finally I started training in 60 days, 3 times a week, all upper body, very light weights.
Now I have a split routine more alike the one I used to (pecs/shou/bis, back/tris) 2 times a week. Weights now are around 50-60% of what I used to.
    I never stopped leg training.
Physioterapy in clinics are a good option, I just did not need it because according to my doctor I should just gradually go back to my work and training routines.
The best medicine in this case is: BE PATIENCE. It sucks, but your body has memory, you will be training soonner and better then you think. But wait until your body recoveries (first days are the worst).
    Good luck!!

It was my case. Each one has his own way to heal. Ask your doctor for your options. There are many therapies you can use. Hope you get well.

If you just had tricep surgery why don't you have PT lined up already? You're biggest concern is going to be re-establishing your ROM (range of motion) and then eventually you'll start working on getting your strength up.

Don't do anything until you see the doctor. The timing is right as it will let the injury settle somewhat and I'm sure your doctor will lay out the itinerary for recovery. Good luck.

Just an update, got cast removed yesterday, doc recommended just range of motion for next 5 days, then just small rubberband exercises for next week or so..... going to be very carefull but happy to be at least on the road back
