Well, I've been lurking around these boards and posting infrequently. Decided to get more involved and figured a training journal would be a good place to start.

A little bit about myself: 25 year old male, 192 lbs, bf approximately 15%. I started bodybuilding training in 2008 and found it satisfying at first, but frustrating in the long run as strength gains were hard to come by. I finally switched to powerlifting training this january after reading a ton of Layne Nortons stuff and WOW!!! I love this training. I have a passion for it that I never really had for bodybuilding. I was on a roll until march when I injured an intracostal nerve which put me out of the gym until a few days ago. Man was that a downer. I couldn't train, had no motivation to eat right and lost a lot of size. However, I took advantage of the downtime to read everything I could get my hands on. This led me to Louie Simmons and the Conjugate System. With that, I'll actualy start logging my training.

I expected a loss in strength coming back from injury, but man I wasn't expecting it to be this bad. I have a few days to catch up on here.

      Thursday July 19, 2012
      DE Bench
      Speed bench 115x8x3
      Jm press 95x3x6, 95x10
      Pendlay rows 135x7, 135x2x6, 135x7
      Seated db shoulder press 45x4x5
      Hammer curls 30x2x6, 30x7
Bench was a little slow, need to lighten up a bit.

      Friday July 20, 2012
      ME squat/dl
      Wide stance squat 275x1, 285x1, 295x1
      Good morning 135x4x10
lying plat loaded leg curl performed unilaterally 25x4x10
      Weighted sit ups 25x4x10

      and now todays training
      Sunday July 22, 2012
      ME Bench
Med grip flat bench 220x1, 225x2x1
      Db rolling tri xten 30x4x8
      Rack chins BWx10, 10, 8, 7
      Side db lateral 20x3x8, 20x10
Close grip EZ bar curls 35x4x10

Thats where i'm at now. A lot of the movements I was real conservative on due to lack of familiarity and/or seeing where my strength is. Any input or criticism is welcome because while I have read a ton about this program, I am quite lacking in actual experience with it.

Looking forward to following your training bud, I'm a big fan of both Simmons and Tate.

You have a meet in mind that you want to train towards or a little too early at this stage? All the best JIM.

Thanks alot gentlemen. I don't have a meet in mind right now, just trying to get my numbers back where they were and then go from there. It's good to know I have access to knowledgable people on here since I don't know anyone who trains for or is even familiar with powerlifting.

Thanks. Yeah I love it too. Great footage and interviews, and Kirk Karwoski was a trip.

Hit up some GPP today, tire flipping and sledge hammer. It's so damn hot though, I only lasted about 20 minutes. Also, just ordered a set of bands from Elite FTS. Never used them before so I'm intrigued to see if they'll live up to the hype.

Hey man, glad to see you started a journal. I like training with bands on the powerlifts, great tool for added explosiveness and strength.

Thanks for the links Jim, definitely some good info in there. When I get them I'm planning on trying them out on a bunch of stuff to see what works for me and what doesn't, which from my understanding is what the conjugate system is all about.

Sounds good, I'll definately be interested to see what you think of them.

I'm trying to see if I can get hold of any here in NZ, thinking I will probably end up having to order direct from the States though.
