  • 3-30-10 Monday Back and Traps

Weaker today then usual and time constraints. Bodyweight coming back though. Woke up yesterday at 196 and ended the night at 205 lbs. So nine pound gain in a day. This was unclothed. With clothes like I usually weigh would have been around 210-211 at end of night.

    :

    (207 lbs before meals)

    Wide Grip Chin Ups:

    30
    10
    9
    8
    11

    Lat Pulldowns:

    210x25 warm
295x10 (45 lb plate pinned to stack)
325x11 (45,25 and 5 lb add on pinned to stack)
    325x15
350x10 (100 lbs pinned to stack)

    Iso Low Row Hammer Strength:

    270x25 warm
    360x26
    450x18
540x10 (Two 45 lb plates added by rope)
    540x8

    TBar Rows:

    135x15 warm
    225x10
    250x8
295x3 partial reps. Possible PR for the amount of weight. 6 45s and a quarter, machine only holds 7 plates.

    Barbell Shrugs:

    315x25 warm
    405x20
    455x15
    495x9
    405x30
    405x15

Time constrains. Brief rest pauses used to get more reps on the shrugs.

        • 4-1-10 Thursday (12am to 3:15am) Chest (20 mins cardio)

Hit some good volume today with 21 sets on the bench. Rather then debate in my mind which is better for size gains, 3/4 or full reps, today I incorporated both. It felt good to hit the full reps again. Its been a long time and the speed and rhythym is different so technique will improve with time. Main thing is timing my explosions at the bottom of the lift to maximise reps.

I think I will be incorporating both 3/4 reps and full for a while and see how it works. Some weeks maybe even cycle full reps only.

Am still light but considering the week vacation I took off, strength is pretty good for being light. Its a few reps higher then it was pre beastdrol cycle, so when I start again I will be building off of a higher point. My goals are more size now but the strength increases are never a bad thing.

Got some bloodwork today and once the results come in Ill decide what Im going to run this month, if anything. :

(203 lbs after 2 meals, on scale that makes me lighter)

Flat Bench Press: (3/4 reps til end then locked out, unless noted otherwise)

          135x20 warm
          225x12 warm
          275x8 warm
          315x16 1/2
          315x14 (+ 1 forced rep)
          335x5 (Full reps)
          335x4 (Full reps)
          335x3 (Full reps)
          335x7
          355x3
          335x6
          335x2 1/2 (Full reps)
          335x7
          315x3 (Full reps)
          315x6

          225x5
          185x10
          135x11

          Smith Machine Incline Press:

          225x11
          275x5
          275x5

          Incline Press Machine (pin loaded):

          400x6 (stack)

          Fly Machine:

          225x15

            • 4-3-10 Saturday Legs and Hamstrings

Just some light low volume maintenance. Alot of bone pain below knees.

Got results of my second blood tests back. After 5 weeks off the beastdrol. Everything has returned to normal except liver value. They are still quite high but went down alot since last test.

Testosterone actually went up 99 points to 399. Not sure how long its gonna take for my liver values to come back. 5 weeks is a long time. Have not really used any liver support. Would that speed up the process? Have not taken in alot of liquids either lately.

              :

              (205 lbs before meals)

              Leg press:

              400x30 warm
              600x50 warm
              800x50
              1000x40
              1100x30

              Leg Curls:

              170x15

                  Appreciate that shit!!

Sounds good. Already started increasing water intake and dont think Ill be running anything this month. Maybe Ill get tested again beginning of next month. Might avoid orals next month but will see.

Can make alot of gains on high food intake and get most of what I lost back. At the very least Ill have a much larger base to build off of by next time

                      • Hey man, I'm 54 but love training heavy for my head first, body second. And reading your journal for motivation! Have you had any knee problems over the years? Seems like I got some bad tendonitis from going balls to the walls with hack squats for the past 4 months. But now I'm switching to leg presses and got some inspiration from your leg press sessions. Do you take any joint supps, and how are the knees? Looking forward to your next workout!!

So difficult for me to get my shoulders sore. Rear delts especially I rarely ever feel. I neglected the rears for a long time, so I figure its time to hit that shit again. There is already a huge imbalance, which I have heard can pull the joint out of socket. I used to train them consistantly, but after coming back from my injuries didnt hit them so consistant

Welcome to the journal. Appreciate that shit!!

Same thing for me. Training is for the fucking vent. Thats why Ill sometimes still train 4-5 hours. The results are secondary for me. Its the best way Ive found to deal with my demons

I tried glucosamine/chrondoitin combo long ago. Never noticed anything. I have been using a product called Skeletal Balm pre workout. Its a topical cream. Its sold on Needtobuildmuscle.net, where I moderate. Feel free to check that site out as well. Its no bullshit and if anyone causes problems I personally ban them. Will welcome you to the site as well.

The balm has definately helped. There are days where it doesnt matter what I do though. Sometimes just have to back off or work around it. When my shoulders were giving me problems I took 1000mg of naproxen daily for some weeks. This really helped. I stopped taking it once shoulders felt decent enough. If it comes back ill do it again for a little while. Has worked well. Also switching to machines for chest to let the shoulders heal.

Unfortunately for knees I havent found any way to work around that strain. Leg extentions and any type of press always go into the knees for me. The only thing I can do when my knees are in alot of pain is to cut the range of motion shorter on the leg presses or go lighter. Its beyond just knee pain for me though. The bones, my shins, have had alot of pain lately. My ruptured disks were initially a problem when doing deep leg presses, but now it is the knees and shins. So my leg sessions are not like they used to be.

I dont drive through that type of pain now, like I did in the past. Ill do what I can and then back off and try to let it heal. Even now, days after I hit legs, it hurts to walk. Not cuz of the muscle soreness but bones have been taking a beating. Havent found a solution yet other then letting it rest or going lighter, cutting range of motion.

                            KEEP KILLIN THAT SHIT!!

Weird that you mention having a hard time getting the shoulders sore.

I can't remember last time my shoulders were sore although every session, I hit it hard, however I don't do nearly as much volume as you.

Never thought about the joint getting pulled, that would suck big time.

My front delts are oversized compared to everything else. And you can see from not training rear delts there is a huge imbalance:

My shoulders always click without weight, but not painful. I think that the joint is probably pulled out some from the imbalance. Lately havent had any real shoulder strain though. Shoulders have felt good for now.
