    • Still on the wagon... I have a bottle of Glen in my bar. Only about double left. I walked by it and was like "oh man I want that.". Worst craving temptation so far. I put it down and walked away but inwas actually salavating. It was a good thing. It's good that I have it in my house, there when I want it because then I can say no to it. If its not in my house, nothing to say no to. No over coming the Jonesing.

I realized that I didn't lose as much strength as I thought I did on bench. My problem was that I wasn't arching my back as much and not squeezing my shoulder blazed as much INCREASING my ROM = making me "weaker". Well, bullshit. I Benched 300 yesterday. On saturday I had problems with 225.

        • sometimes bench can be so frustrating...it's sooo damn dependent on form and technique and there is no way to cheat your way to big PR's like deads for example.

like you i've learned that the back arc and esp squeezing teh shoulder blades and traps makes a huge diff!

          good work in there

          • Nice work J...strength with pressing movements typically are affected the most when taking supps vs. not taking supps, at least for me anyways. I'm happy to hear you are keeping a good deal of the strength you gained from the DMZ. Question though, why you doing only 1 and 2 reps per set?

            • I hear you Z. I must have lost my damn mind for a little bit to have missed what should have been obvious!

Dave. I wanted to Max out and see what I could do now that I'm off DMZ. But only on bench. After that I upped the reps.

                      • My lateral raise is by far my weakest exercise of anything exercise I do for my body.

                        • yeah the rear delt moves on the inclines are kinda weird to get used to...in regards to the lateral raises, how do you usually do them? standing/sitting or a mix up?

i've gotten stronger and made progress by using a mixing strict sitting with cheating heavy standing laterals and also keeping constant tension...then of course doing leaning laterals with dbs or cables.

You don't need to use heavy weights when doing laterals to build cannonball delts. Besides, it's such a small and complicated joint, going heavy for the sake of moving weight would be counterproductive on so many levels... just my 2 cents.

                            • Z, I mostly do them standing but I like seated laterals too. Haven't done too many sets of swinging the heavy DBS. Last time was in feb.

Dave, I've gained a lot of strength on many moves over the years but been stuck at 20-25lbs for 12 on laterals for years. Shit, my bench went up about 45 lbs just this year but laterals hasn't moved. It's interesting more than i think it's a negative thing.

                              • swinging the db is nice every once and while...but I agree with Dave, better to stick with lighter weight and higher reps. maybe if you incorporate some half rom style laterals, keeping the movement in the middle of your ROM and then mix it up some with cables you'll see a break through.

in regards to weight I can max out reps around 10 with 25 on sitting and 35 on standing...anything beyond that starts to annoy the joints
