  • Elastic Band external Rotation
    2 arm 1 Dumbbell front raises
    Lateral raises
    Lots of slow pulldowns
    Pec deck
    Lots of pushdowns
    Dumbbell Curls
    Inverted rows
    Stretch

    And I do a few warm up sets before I start my working sets. I am always warmed up. I do not rush my warm up anymore like when I was younger.


    I do all these on all upper body days. I have found through Trial and Error that these work. You gave me the Inverted rows. I can't do the rotation in the picture because all the "rocks" in my shoulder grind and pop through that motion.

    • Just a suggestion, and you mentioned before that this seems to be the only way to prevent pain, I think you should try (along with some of those specific joint warm ups) a stability exercise for your shoulder in each of the four directions. So maybe a pushup plus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALzFr2GT-Is), scapular retraction into inverted row (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgMIy...eature=related), hanging shrugs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnGuP-7MSwQ), and overhead shrugs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSEb1ULOzSQ).

      And for the hanging shrugs, keep your chest higher than the guy in the video.

      I realize though with injuries, you might not be able to do some or any of these.

      • I can probably do all of those except the overhead shrug. Pushing my shoulders Either up THAT way or if im standing and my arms are straight out and doing that KILLS. Impringment I think. I went to a othro, I thinkthat what is was, and he X-Rayed me and made me move my shoulder in certain directions and came to the conclusion I had stage 3 impingement.

        • If pushing that way hurts, can you ease into that position from a chin up type position? If you can do it, I would work through a slow set of hanging chin up shrugs, maybe after your usual warm up? And see how it feels.
