Junior, I'm not Eric, but I can tell you this:
I do this EVERY TIME I DO CARDIO. I have had NO problem dialing in for shows under Eric's tutilage. I've even asked Eric and Layne this question and they have said that even if there is an insulin response it is so small that it is not going to cause an adverse effect.
However, I am very ready to sit back and read exactly what Eric writes so I can learn even more!

What do you think about what Tipsta says though about taking BCAA's prior to morning cardio....how they raise insulin levels and your body will not burn fat while insulin is present.
I'm just not sure if BCAA's are a good idea pre cardio or not?
I do this all the time, and about 20 minutes into cardio I feel my blood sugar drop hard. I start to sweat like a pig and feel like fat is melting off me.

And secondly, unless you do cardio for like 10 minutes, you will find that with this insulin rise will also come a blood sugar drop shortly after. With very little carbs to draw upon first thing in the morning the process will quickly reverse itself and glucagon will take over...which then produces a mega-fat burning state.

Is it your opinion then that the BCAA's that cause the slight insulin rise and naturally the glucagon to follow makes for a better fat burning combo than an empty stomach approach?

Mr. Broser,
I normally do not post at all on these forums. I merely peruse them to find new ideas to help me keep motivated in my fitness endeavors. Not to say that there is a lack of sound and effective principles contained on these boards, but I do find it quite difficult to find ideas that would be effective for me. My biggest stumbling block has been motivation. Since my junior year in college, there have been steadily increasing demands on my time. I now work between 10 and 16 hours per day, 6 days per week. This leaves me mentally drained most of the time and also makes for easy time-commitment excuses to train. Anyhow, enough of that.....
I have now been using your FD/FS program as a template for my new workouts and I have to say that I have found a new motivation to train. I take your core principles and just double the rep ranges. I don't have much choice in that as I work out alone and going heavier would just risk injury in most cases. I have also found that my body responds a bit better to higher volume type training. By keeping the weights lighter and decreasing the rest time to minimal, I can get through these workouts very quickly (which is a beautiful thing when you're strapped for time like I am). I also want to thank you for providing the nutritional component of your program also. I think that is a portion of training protocol that too many people forget, or never even think about, that is the deciding factor between mediocre or stellar results. After only one week, my bodyweight is still the same (which doesnt bother me much) but I already feel a bit stronger and look leaner. And I haven't even added any cardion in yet
I don't have a digital camera or webcam, so I can't really provide any progress pictures, but I will keep dropping in from time to time to keep you updated on my progress and also to advocate how well this type of training can work if people will put in the time and effort to do it properly. My many thanks to you good sir.Posts may contain false information, and are for entertainment only. Always seek professional medical advice.
